The opportunity

The Manager, reconciliations is responsible for leading and managing Reconciliations Officers, who administer the reconciliation and settlement of payment items that flow through the Bank and support the branch network through systems and investigations. Our Operations team is still early in it’s evolution. The Manager, Reconciliations will play a critical role in building and developing scalable processes for their specialization as we build out a mature Operations department.

This Manager, Reconciliations leads a team critical in supporting our business through high-volume, peak periods and provides control through the reconciliation and investigation of transactions that can be high-risk, this includes:

- Incoming and Outgoing Clearing
- Electronic payments such as ABM/POS
- Business Online Services such as Wires, CAFT, E-Transfer, E-Bill, and Visa Card payments

The person in this role will provide strong leadership to 5-6 direct reports. The role will build strong relationships and collaborate with other leaders & teams across the centralized operations group to drive a high level of operational effectiveness which aligns with organizational goals and strategic objectives.

What you’ll be doing

Leadership
- Direct management and leadership oversight of a team; including employees and contractors. This includes effective hiring, talent development, performance management and reward processes and programs across areas of responsibility that positively impact attraction, motivation, engagement, and retention of best-in-class talent.
- Drive progression and development of direct reports through cascading of accountability and ensuring effective performance management standards are followed.
- Lead the build and maintenance of key performance indicators within specialization stream, providing recommendations and implementing changes to targets as required to contribute to the evolution of Operations’ performance culture.

Business Support
- Model a client-centric approach for team members and coach where required to ensure a client-focused lens is used in providing services to the branch network.
- Monitor and report on achievement of Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets; when SLA targets are not met, identify root causes, escalate and contribute to creating an appropriate action plan to address them.
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed, escalating exceptions as required.
- Identify gaps in standard operating procedures, provide recommendations for improvements and assist with documentation to drive consistent and predictable daily outcomes, and strong data integrity.
- Identify and escalate issues related to policy, procedures or specific branch or client situations.
- Identify opportunities to increase capacity and efficiency of the reconciliations team and contribute to the creation of a plan to enhance and create efficiencies.
- Proactively participate, share, and exchange ideas regarding potential procedure enhancements and best practices between management and peers
- Minimize risk to CWB Group through compliance with policies and regulatory requirements in all areas of banking and operations
- Ensure the reconciliations and settlements are completed as per the Centralized Services Monthly Internal Account and PL Certification
- Maintenance of long-term document control and electronic reporting for all applicable tasks
- Establish strong working relationships with other corporate office departments and team members in the spirit of supporting branch banking operations.

Quality Control & Optimization
- Work with the business and key stakeholder to establish Operational Effectiveness methodology and a structured process which ensures the success in achieving operational effectiveness objectives for the implementation, continuous improvement and efficiency, and sustainment of our CWBFG operational processes to ensure the branch and client experience is enhanced.
