**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Manager, Continuous Improvement & Training, the Continuous Improvement Specialist will be responsible for developing and measuring standard metrics, diagramming the flow of current state; including inputs and outputs of business processes, identifying opportunities for improvement by investigating safety, sales, administrative, and operational activities and developing a project plan for implementing improvements and monitoring the new process to ensure it works as intended. This role will be responsible to leading CI activities within the region, as well as national or international programs from time to time. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will also be part of a national CI team responsible for the ongoing documentation and standardization of processes, continuous improvement activities, professional development, and setting standards.
**Responsibilities**:
- Conduct preliminary investigations aimed at growing knowledge surrounding existing operational processes conducted within the normal course of business at Parkland and identifying waste, duplication, and inefficiencies within the process.
- Lead projects through the facilitation of working sessions and meetings with identified key business stakeholders/process owners to drive discussions surrounding current practices and opportunities for improvement based on identified gaps.
- Document existing state and future state processes, procedures, policies, and cross functional work flows as derived from project meetings and discussions.
- Identify data driven solutions focused on areas of opportunity for improvement within identified process for review with key business partners.
- Partner in the development of metrics required to validate implemented process improvements as required.
- Build strong and collaborative working relationships with business partners and project teams.
- Influence the implementation of identified change as demonstrated through enhanced abilities to present new ideas/process improvement recommendations to team players who may be resistant to change.
**Education**:
University level post-secondary education in Business Administration, Engineering and/or Computer Sciences.
**Requirements**:
- 3-5 years of experience in an Operational Process Improvement role (preferably within the Downstream oil and gas industry)
- Demonstrated project management experience with a concentration on process management/improvement as an asset
- Experience using Six Sigma methodologies and practices to solve real life business problems
- Six Sigma Black Belt would be an asset
- Advanced Excel and Visio Skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with a focus on the facilitation of meetings and project teams.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Advanced leadership skills with a focus on building collaborative working relationships, influencing change, and driving results for business efficiencies.
- Experience in a consulting role (internal or external)
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Ability to travel 20-25%
