**The Opportunity**:
The Pricing Specialist role is responsible for managing fuel prices for delivered industrial, residential and cardlock. This role will act as a business partner with Sales and other internal stakeholders to ensure profitability and volume growth through our commercial channels. Main responsibilities for this role will include market analysis, deal evaluation, price recommendations and price setting. They will identify opportunities to improve Parkland’s existing pricing strategies by analyzing movements in sales and margins across markets, monitoring competitor activity, and measuring impacts on Parkland’s network.
The Pricing Specialist will develop and implement tools and processes to improve pricing execution (i.e., information collection, price determination and communication) and performance optimization (i.e., data management and analysis). They will collaborate with wide variety of stakeholders across operations, marketing, and IT on day-to-day execution, training and integration, and improvement opportunities**.**
**Responsibilities**:
Margin Review & Deal Evaluation:
- Responsible to oversee the setting of gas, diesel and DEF prices in the applicable regions
- Adherence to regulated pricing in the applicable regions
- Evaluate new and existing deals for profitability and volume growth
- Provide counsel to Sales and internal stakeholders on price recommendations that are based on thorough market and data analysis
- Engage wide variety of stakeholders, operations management, pricing execution, performance optimization, and IT on day-to-day execution, training and integration, and improvement opportunities
Analysis and Reporting:
- Develop, analyze and maintain key volume and margin reports to ensure alignment with pricing strategies and identify anomalies and adjust accordingly
- Ensure budgets set by Finance are up to date and on target through daily analysis
- Perform analysis of sales results for Management and communicate observations and pricing recommendations based on all variables that affect profitability
Accuracy and Quality Control:
- Ensure price accuracy and integrity across all systems
- Validate external pricing sources to ensure accuracy and integrity of data used in our pricing mechanisms
- Subject Matter Expertise & Continuous Improvement:
- Key contact to Pricing Systems (Power User): responsible to establish integrity across all module
- Develop new ways to streamline and improve the pricing process via system upgrades, external resources, and reports
- Support analyses and special projects related to Parkland’s pricing strategies
Non-Authoritative Leadership:
- Provide non-authoritative leadership to the pricing coordinator role in order to provide the functional and technical supervision required
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience in a pricing/analytical role.
- High level of individual initiative and motivation, focus on quality of work, and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills & attention to detail to drive data-based decisions.
- Experience with business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau) would be an asset.
- Desire to enhance Parkland’s pricing execution capability through development of re-usable processes and tools, improving its efficiency, accuracy, and analytics.
- Strong team orientation. Able to work with a diverse team based in a field and corporate environment, while working autonomously on day-to-day tasks and special projects / initiatives.
- Positive, “will do” attitude when faced with ambiguity and/or challenges.
- Strong problem solving & troubleshooting skills.
- Strong work experience, demonstrating organizational, analytical, and communication skills, a proven record of positive business results, and an increasing level of responsibility.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products. Generally comfortable with technology and able to quickly learn new software. Intermediate Excel skills (efficient use of Pivot Tables, Vlookup formulas and other logic-based formulas, and macros).
- Strong collaboration & communication skills, written and oral.
- Knowledge of the fuel industry would be considered an asset.
