Manager, Learning and Development

Reporting to the Head of Talent & Organizational Development, the Manager, Learning & Development will actively lead projects focused on aligning learning and development programs and solutions with the TMX business strategy. Leading all stages of the learning lifecycle including learning strategy, curriculum design, content development, delivery support, measurement and maintenance. This role will manage one direct report, the Learning and Talent Specialist and will have people manager accountability for this role.
We are looking for a passionate innovator to lead our company-wide learning solutions and initiatives to deliver growth and support employee professional development. You will partner closely with our Human Resources colleagues and our internal partners to assess learning and development needs, identify skills and capabilities gaps in our workforce, and define learning objectives and business outcomes. You are a hands-on learning program manager with a growth mindset and cultural sensitivity, and the ability to design, develop, maintain and facilitate learner-centric solutions.
Key Accountabilities
- Engage and collaborate with HR and business partners to identify needs and develop learning and development strategies that achieve overall improvement to individual, group and business results.
- Design and develop learning curricula and roadmaps for employee, management and leadership development, integrating new and existing in-house and external learning programs and platforms, as well as a variety of modalities and technologies.
- Lead the design, development and delivery of innovative and engaging online, instructor-led and blended learning solutions that support TMX business strategy for all roles and levels throughout the organization.
- Facilitate instructor led (ILT) and virtual led training (VLT) sessions, as well as lead project team meetings.
- Lead, maintain, and refine existing learning curricula and content to ensure they are up-to-date and meet business needs and standards.
- Assess the effectiveness of learning and development initiatives and report on key metrics to evaluate progress, make recommendations, and adapt strategies/evolve programs as needed.
- Lead and track compliance training for TMX policies and guidelines.
- Manage the learning management system.
- Identify, engage and handle the partnership with vendors and service providers to deliver innovative learning solutions.
- Support the management of costs and budget for the function.
- Build and maintain networks and conduct research to stay well-informed of emerging technologies, trends and innovation in learning (mobile, social, virtual, blended, etc.)
- Post-secondary education with a focus on Learning & Development, Human Resources, or related area.
- Meaningful work experience, including direct experience designing, developing and delivering learning and development curricula and programs.
- Significant experience in learning and development, including adult learning principles, design processes, blended learning techniques, as well as web based and social learning.
- Experienced in designing and developing management and leadership assessment and development programs.
- Strong project management skills, including organization skills.
- Run multiple projects, deliver in a fast-paced environment and navigate through ambiguity.
- Demonstrated consultative, interpersonal and influencing skills while building rapport.
- Skilled facilitator who is also technologically savvy, adept at using virtual meeting tools and e-learning development software programs.
- A continual learner who stays abreast of market trends and innovative practices with respect to learning & development.
- Experience handling external partnerships and budgets.
Nice to Have(s)
- Experience within the financial services industry
- CTP, CTDP or HR designation
- Experience implementing innovative learning technologies including mobile learning and gamification
- Bilingual English/French
