**Job Summary**
The **Director of Care (DOC) **works to provide leadership to staff in the Nursing Department and to ensure resident engagement and care services are provided in a respectful, caring and safe manner, and in accordance with the policies and procedures of The Waterford Retirement Community.
**Job Type**:Full-time Continuous
**Responsibilities**:
- Promotes and ensures staff adherence to best practices and organizational policies
- Ensures individualized resident care plans are developed for residents, maintained and reviewed regularly, in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Ensures resident care services are delivered in a personalized manner and according to the resident’s individual care plan
- Conducts quarterly audits of residents’ health files to ensure all aspects of care services are documented according to organizational policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Provides direction to, and evaluates the efficacy and effectiveness of various aspects of nursing department operations (e.g. documentation, medication administration, provision of direct care, etc.)
- Participates in the recruitment, orientation, training and performance management of memory care staff
- Provides leadership to various operational priorities such as, but not limited to, Falls Prevention, Infection Prevention and Control, Palliative Care, Positive Approach to Care (PAC) and Behaviour Management
- Responds promptly and in a professional manner to concerns expressed by residents and family members, and ensures satisfactory resolution and follow-up of these concerns to avoid ongoing or recurring issues or concerns
- Is available to be “On Call” on alternating weekends with the Executive Director.

- Demonstrates strong conflict resolution strategies
- Documents clearly and promptly, in accordance with policies and procedures of the Residence, CNO standards and legislative requirements.
**Hours of work**
Primarily day shifts (9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) but may be required to cover nursing shifts such as 7am-3pm, 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
**Salary**: $80,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
