**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Plant Capital and Engineering, within the Water and Wastewater Treatment Division of Public Works, this role is responsible for supervising a diverse team of operational and technical staff to deliver technical support services to water and wastewater treatment plant operations including supporting optimization activities and plant enhancements. This position will also assist the Manager in developing a dynamic and fully engaged staff, enhancing program delivery and developing strategic initiatives for the successful delivery of services to the various treatment operations groups.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Direct supervision of technical support staff which is currently made up Operations Support Coordinators and Water/Wastewater Engineer(s).
- Oversees treatment plant optimization activities. Identifies and assists in the delivery of performance enhancements of treatment plant operational assets.
- Monitors and provides updates on water and wastewater treatment performance.
- Tracks, coordinates and manages operational data, key performance indicators and performance dashboards for the division.
- Manages and makes improvements to non-SCADA related systems and data gathering tools. Develop workflows to provide continuous improvement of standard work practices.
- Manage and deliver water and wastewater treatment studies around treatment process, chemical usage, capacity, etc. for defining future capital, operational or maintenance activities.
- Prepares Terms of Reference and evaluates proposals for engaging consultants in technical studies. Arranges and administers consultant agreements and provides all necessary directions and supervision to ensure compliance with Halton requirements.
- Provides leadership to ensuring cohesive and consistent operational input into plant expansions. Responsible to coordinate divisional input into Water and Wastewater Planning activities.
- Supports the division on the asset management program and the state of good repair budget planning and provides input to the division’s operating budget.
- Provides advice and guidance to the Public Works senior management team to support the delivery of key technical projects.
- Assists in the delivery of the Corporate Strategic Plan as it applies to the Water and Wastewater Treatment Division.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Post-secondary education in an Engineering/Applied Science field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years progressive project management experience in operations, compliance, design or optimization of water and wastewater treatment, or a related field.
- Experience in water and/or wastewater process design, engineering and SCADA automation.
- Excellent Leadership skills to support the development of a quality focused culture, effectively manage staff, foster agreement by multiple stakeholders, and oversee the delivery of programs and initiatives.
- In-depth knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and knowledge of provincial legislation (Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Environmental Protection Act, American Water Works Association Standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, etc.).
- Analytical skills to interpret key performance indicators and provide recommendations for enhancement and optimization of plant operations.
