**The Opportunity**

Reporting to the Youth Program Coordinator, the Youth Program Facilitator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and facilitation of weekly programs for youth ages 12-25. Youth Program Facilitator will support in the co-creation of recreation, developmental, and leadership programming with youth at youth hub locations. Set an example for behavior and attitude for peer staff and campers. Ensure a safe, supportive environment for all youth accessing services.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement youth-focused programs including but not limited to: youth drop-in,rec-based programming, volunteer programming and life-skills programming.
- Engage youth to incorporate a variety of youth-related topics in their programming including conflict resolution, peer mediation, leadership, community engagement, education and academic success, etc.
- Supports youth to achieve their established goals using a strengths-based approach.
- Maintains awareness of community resources and gaps as well as the socio-economic and geographical make-up of the community.
- Consults with social workers, other professionals, and family when appropriate.
- Keep current on community development trends and research as well as current events that impact the local neighborhood.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions and other MFRC-related events.
- Support partnerships through building and strengthening linkages and opportunities with other local agencies, local schools, community agencies, recreation centres, libraries, places of worship, police, local malls, and plazas within the Malvern community.
- Identify and develop new partnerships that support high-quality youth programs and services.
- Participate and liaise with external agencies around priorities affecting Malvern youth.

**Qualifications, Skills and Personal Characteristics**
- Criminal reference check is required.
- Emergency First Aid & CPR/AED Certificate is required.
- Strong understanding and experience with the Empringham community.
- Ability to work a variety of shifts to accommodate appointments after school, in the evenings, and on weekends.
- Demonstrated understanding of youth and issues that affect them.
- Experience in program development and implementation and co-creating youth programming with youth.
- Strong planning, organization, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Skills and experience working with multicultural and marginalized clientele.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Commitment to non-discrimination practices and an anti-oppression framework.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.

**Compensation: $18/hour, 18-25 hours/week**
