**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Project Manager, Engineering & Operations, is responsible for the development and implementation of mobility programs, including active transportation, and related programs that meet the needs of the community.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Participates in the implementation of the Active Transportation Plan, Transportation Demand Management Program, and Wayfinding.
- Develops and implements programs to support the Transportation Master Plan and Active Transportation Plan and monitors and reports outcomes, including reporting to City Council.
- Promotes active transportation through public outreach, education, and events; builds awareness and motivates behavioural changes; and delivers presentations to interest groups, schools, institutions and the public.
- Supports initiatives as they relate to the active transportation targets outlined in the Net-Zero Strategy.
- Supports Active and Safe Routes to School initiatives and other joint initiatives with local school boards to support students cycling and walking to school.
- Develops and cultivates community partnerships including networking with other municipalities and government agencies.
- Provides administrative support to the Accessibility Advisory Committee, Traffic Safety Committee and to support strategic initiatives, as needed.
- Supports City Divisions and other stakeholders in implementing active transportation connections to other transportation systems and end-of-trip facilities.
- Provides input on active transportation components through the planning and development review process.
- Provides input on design criteria and policies for pedestrian and cycling facilities.
- Prepares, organizes, and analyses data required for active transportation asset management, reporting, and budgeting purposes for inclusion in Capital and Operating Budgets. Administers and monitors associated budgets.
- Monitors the changing Active Transportation environment, regulated guidelines, best practices, trends, and issues, and recommends appropriate actions for training, programs, and policies consistent with community needs and overall Division objectives.
- Reviews, prepares, and manages requests for quotation/proposal, tenders, contracts, and agreements for required services.
- Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Degree in planning or a related discipline; and
- Minimum four years’ experience developing and implementing transportation initiatives, including conducting public outreach and education; and assessing community engagement, or other related work experience
- Knowledge of applicable legislations, related regulations, and best practices

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing; and proven report writing skills
- Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences and to skillfully handle on-the-spot questions from senior officials, members of City Council, special interest groups, and the media
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, private and public officials, and the public
- Excellent project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to influence others, build consensus, to inspire confidence and to lead
- Demonstrated political acumen; and have an understanding of municipal government and role of Administration
- Must be proficient in the use of computers and current related software
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must successfully undergo a Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
- Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own transportation
