About the role

As a Recovery Collection Specialist, you will contact clients to collect unpaid credit facilities, affecting the financial results of HSBC. You will work to reach goals set by the Unit Manager, ensuring all policies and procedures are adhered to. You will also manage account related disputes and inquiries and work to resolve matters within a prompt and appropriate manner.

**Responsibilities**:

- Consider the customer at the heart of each interaction and process
- Analyze assigned accounts to determine and initiate best collection actions
- Communicate with customers to arrange repayment of charged off accounts
- Support inbound customer calls Canada-wide
- Negotiate settlements to facilitate the collection of bad debt accounts
- Advise and guide customers through necessary actions for resolution of debt
- Perform skip tracing to locate customers
- Refer accounts for litigation and recommends a course of action
- Take ownership to deliver strong results
- Find opportunities to improve results, address work-related problems, to ease strategic and operational decision-making activities
- Refer decisions beyond assigned authority to higher management.
- Adherence to File Quality Standards & Call Quality Standards
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.

Requirements

**Requirements**:

- 3 years of collection experience or equivalent
- Previous experience in financial institution is an asset
- Effective skills in Microsoft Office
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to support the building of strong and diverse relationships
- Proven effective time management and organizational skills
- Fluency in French and English
- Availability from Monday to Friday; shift work to be confirmed between 8 am to 7:30 pm: 1 evening shift per week and 1 Friday evening shift per month.

The language requirements for this position include French and English. The latter language is required to support inbound customer calls with a Canada-wide remit as described in this job posting and in compliance with Bill 96
