Vancouver, Canada B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives Full time

**Status: Temporary, Full-Time (14-months)**
**Work Location: Hybrid (a combination of in-office and remote work)**

Reporting to the Director, People & Talent, the People & Talent Generalist (PTG) provides day to day HR support for the People and Talent functions of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). PTG works as a collaborative team but with the focus of an assigned client portfolio. Responsibilities include full cycle recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, performance management and other HR related support. As the first point of contact for their client group employees and leaders, the PTG addresses inquiries and provides guidance and direct support over a wide range of HR matters. Additionally, the PTG provides proactive support to the Director, People & Talent (P&T) and the Chief Officer, Communication & People.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Conducts HR orientations, including providing HRIS training and coordinating benefits enrollment. Supports hiring managers throughout the onboarding and probationary process to ensure new hires joining the organization are set up for success.
- Builds effective partnerships with assigned client groups including developing a strong understanding of client’s services and their business cycles. Complies and analyzes HR metrics; identifies patterns, trends and issues; makes recommendations to support clients’ people and staffing needs.
- Supports the performance management process by providing training, follow up and other coaching support as needed to ensure the program is used effectively to enable performance planning and meaningful performance development and career conversations.
- Acts as the first point of contact regarding HR-related inquiries. In consultation with the Director, P&T, provides initial guidance and support on a variety of matters including, but not limited to, policy and collective agreement interpretation, absence and leave management issues, performance management, respectful workplace concerns, and conflict resolution.
- Coordinates employee disability and/or Worksafe BC claims and return to work programs. Maintains accurate employee data in the HR system to facilitate payroll and benefits.
- Maintains accurate, current and complete employee records, including ensuring the integrity of the HRIS data, online files, and other HR documentation. Maintains SME knowledge of the HRIS to help troubleshoot issues, provide training, and support ongoing releases and/or enhancement of the system.
- Keeps up to date applicable BC legislations. Assists in monitoring and updating policies, processes, practices, systems, tools, templates, and resource materials to ensure compliance.
- Supports continuous process improvement. Regularly examines and improves on individual approach and team processes to ensure effective collaboration, consistency and efficiency goals are achieved.

**Your education & skills**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, plus 3 to 5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent level of education, training, and experience.
- HR Generalist background with strong in-house full-cycle recruitment experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to exhibit tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and/or sensitive nature.
- Proven analytical skills with superior accuracy and attention to details.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of relevant legislations, including BC Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workers Compensation and Privacy legislations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including the ability to respond politely and confidentially to both internal and external inquiries.
- Prior knowledge and experience using Saas based HR systems, preference for UKG experience
- Advanced skills related to the Microsoft Office suite (especially Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
- Experience with employee group benefits plans and working with collective agreements an asset.
- CPHR designation is an asset
