**Job description**

**Job Title**: Human Resources Generalist

**Reports To**: Human Resources Manager

**Location**: In-person, Downtown Vancouver, BC

**Job summary**:
The HRG also works closely with all departments, in a consultancy role, assisting other leading roles with understanding and implementing such policies and procedures. The HRG also promotes equity, equality and diversity as the keys to success of our organization, and acts as a liaison with a wide range of people involved in policy areas such as staff performance and health & safety.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Operations**:

- Manage full cycle recruitment, including hiring for various positions in Marketing, IT, Design, Projects, HR and other fields.
- Manage and lead onboarding, orientation, and support for new hires.
- Manage and lead organization-wide culture and engagement initiatives.
- Develop integrated HR strategies which align with the organization’s mission, vision, values, and objectives.
- Oversee and manage volunteer programs and overall experience.
- Actively coach other members of the HR team and assist other managers with developing themselves and their teams from a career perspective.
- Prepare and implement organizational HR policies and procedures and assist with understanding and promoting them.
- Prepare termination letters, reference letters and other documents, as needed.
- Promote equality and diversity, equity, & inclusion in the organization and actively guide staff, contractors, and volunteers on creating a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Other tasks and responsibilities, as needed.

**Building and Fostering Relationships**:

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and volunteers.
- Attend job fairs and build positive relationships with schools and universities to support employee and volunteer recruitment.
- Connect with past and current volunteers and link them together for further support and resources.
- Create and facilitate a sense of family and community among the organization’s volunteers.

**Communications**:

- Develop and implement communication tools and guidelines to ensure effective internal communications.

**Conflict Management**:

- Encourage and facilitate a positive, safe, and welcoming working environment for all employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Show respect for conflicting points of view and resolve disagreements in a professional manner considering the best interests of all parties involved.
- Encourage and facilitate open communication between the organization's employees, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
- Take the lead in actively managing sensitive situations in the workplace.

**Teamwork & Collaboration**:

- Work alongside the HR team and other departments to achieve shared goals and to provide full support in internal communications and the organization’s programs.

**Requirements and Skills**:
**Must-haves**:

- 2 years of solid, hands-on Human Resources’ work experience.
- University degree in Human Resources or Business or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with ethnically and socially diverse volunteers and co-workers in a non-profit context.
- Knowledge of HR, leadership, psychology, non-profit management, social media, and marketing.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong active listening skills.
