**Legal Bookkeeper

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you. Bookkeeping Matters is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced **Legal Bookkeeper** to become an integral part of our dynamic team. In this full-time, remote position, you'll play a crucial role in providing top-notch bookkeeping services to Canadian and US-based law firms. Your commitment to excellence and willingness to learn will be highly valued in this role.

**What you will be doing**:

- Expertly handling trust and general bookkeeping services for our law firm clients, from data entry to bank account reconciliation.
- Completing the accounting cycle up to the Trial Balance, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Managing tax and transaction levy filings with precision and attention to detail.
- Crafting draft year-end financial statements to provide to client’s accountants, that meet and exceed industry standards.
- Identifying and efficiently resolving financial discrepancies and challenges.
- Managing expectations and deadlines for multiple clients.
- Successfully wrapping up projects and delivering results that exceed expectations.
- Review and submit eBills
- Track, follow up and resolve issues for rejected eBills

**What you will bring**:

- A minimum of 5 years of proficiency in legal accounting (working in a bookkeeping capacity for a law firm).
- A minimum of 2 years of proficiency in the CosmoLex practice management software.
- A solid understanding of fundamental accounting concepts, including debits vs. credits, chart of accounts, assets vs. liabilities, and more.
- Familiarity with US-based bookkeeping concepts or a strong willingness to learn and grow in this area.
- Self-motivation and a proactive approach, demonstrating your ability to take the lead in challenging situations.
- Prior experience in a law firm environment in a bookkeeping or accounting capacity is mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to efficiently manage data and reports.
- The capability to excel under pressure in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Strong organizational skills and an unwavering attention to detail, essential for maintaining precise records.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues, with a strong command of the English language (written and oral).
- Proven professionalism and an unwavering commitment to maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of your work.
- Comfortable with using and learning new technologies (eg. ChatGPT and CRM programs).
- Experience in eBilling platforms and procedures
