Assignment: Full time Hourly (37.5 hours per week)

Pay Rate: $21.00 hour. We also offer access to our superb fitness, sports, and recreation facility.

**Summary**:
Reporting to the _Manager, Skills Development_, and the _Senior Coordinator, Employment_ the _Employment Coach _provides program services coordination in support of employment workshops in relation to Project Search and Abilities Centre internal services. The _Employment Coach _will support and advance individuals of all abilities to develop leadership, pre-employment and soft/hard skills needed in current labour market. Facilitation will be in a learning environment focused on developing communication, self-advocacy and knowledge that are applied in the community and at work. In addition to facilitation, the _Employment Coach _will act as a mentor to job seekers with barriers and provide on-the-job guidance and support.

**Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day**:

- **Assess and plan**. You will manage and prioritize a caseload of job seekers efficiently and effectively. You will utilize a client-centered approach to identify employment barriers, goals, and service needs to develop customized employment plans for individuals. You will plan, organize and update curriculum to suit individuals needs to ensure relevancy and success for each intern.
- **Deliver and evaluate**. You will work with individuals, teaching them the skills required to research, interview for, and secure employment. You will focus on both practical and soft skills to obtain and maintain employment opportunities. You will work in both group and 1:1 setting to ensure participants are on the right track in relation to their goals and skill development. You will document impact and collaborate with the research department to collect impact and ensure that workshops are hitting all expected targets and outcomes outlined. You will also deliver and implement employment workshops within various school boards in Durham Region.
- You will support individuals in all aspects of their employment journey. You will monitor individuals progress and collaborate with other members of the employment team to ensure success once an individual has been hired. You will collaborate with partners, interns and families to develop transition plans that clearly outline next steps to assist participants in their pathway to school, work, volunteer and community engagement.
- **Communicate, collaborate, and foster**. You will build trusting and reliable relationships with all partners, team members and job seekers/caregivers, maintaining open and transparent lines of communication. You will participate in team meetings, debriefs and case reviews. You will discuss progress and provide constructive descriptive feedback to job seekers.

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- **The education. **You have post-secondary education in any field such as social service worker, developmental service worker, community developmental service, recreation, EA Certification
- **The knowledge. **You are familiar with job searching, local provincial labour markets, interviewing skills, workplace accommodations, and return-to-work programming. You will inspire confidence, resilience, and self-esteem in the interns through respect, acceptance, and focus on strengths and achievements.
- **The compassion. **You exhibit a high level of emotional intelligence, cultural sensitivity, and an awareness of barriers to success, including learning limitations. You have experience working with individuals with disabilities. You must be effective in planning, organizing and time management skills, and able to work independently without close supervision. You must be self-motivated, and results-oriented; demonstrates initiative and contributes to a work environment that values and encourages innovation
- **The communication and relationship building. **You have outstanding technical writing and verbal skills. You can make connections with peers, leaders, and stakeholders. You can facilitate decision-making, influence without authority, collaborate across teams, and achieve results through effective negotiation and problem-solving.
- **The administrative requirements. **You have an up-to-date **Standard First Aid and CPR C/AED certification. A current, clear criminal record check with the vulnerable sector clearance**. Flexibility regarding assigned work schedule, including days, some evenings and weekends (depending on cohort scheduling)
