Human Resources Business Partner / HR Generalist - Capital Region (Ottawa)

**Description**:
Miller Waste Systems Inc. has been in operation since 1961. Miller is a leader in waste management and diversion, providing governments and industries with a wide range of services in the province of Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Manitoba. Miller has over 50 years’ experience in the waste management sector, and currently operates out of more than 30 locations. We are looking for a highly capable Human Resources Business Partner / HR Generalist for our two Miller Waste facilities in Ottawa Ontario and will also be responsible for our Pembroke location, travel will be required.

Miller Waste Systems is looking for a seasoned Human Resources Business Partner / Talent Acquisition Specialist with 7-10 years of experience working in a Transportation, Manufacturing, or Industrial Sectors. The successful applicant will have experience as an HR Generalist including full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, performance management, managing HR programs, policies, and procedures, and more. They will play an essential role in staffing Miller Waste’s Ottawa and Pembroke operations, ensuring appropriate levels of human capital throughout the contract, as well ensure employee engagement and compliance to all external and internal policies and laws. A collaborative but strong nature is essential, and the applicant’s experience will allow them to manage people and enhance relationships within Miller Waste.

**Responsibilities**:
In the position of Human Resources Business Partner, you will continue to build on your relationship with Ottawa Operations and Maintenance employees and Leaders. This individual will work in close partnership with this business group as their primary contact for Human Resources. You will provide coaching and support to leaders, supporting the Ottawa division as they run efficiently and effectively.

This individual will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with internal and external regulations. To ensure employee compliance, this Human Resources Business Partner will facilitate monthly employee committee meetings, perform employee investigations, address inappropriate workplace behavior, and comply with all third-party investigations.

**Requirements**:
**Bilingualism in both English & French is an asset**

The successful applicant will be comfortable with prioritization, planning, coordination, and organization, with an ability to respond and adapt in changing, high pressure environments. This individual will be able to assess problem situations, recognize issues, and use judgment to create solutions that meet required standards.

Flexibility is also required as operational demand may require early starts, late finishes and, on rare occasions, weekend work.
