Finance Manager - Real Estate
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise day-to-day accounting functions for property operations. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations including review and supervise entry of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax, quarter-end close and reporting, annual budgets and statutory reporting.
- Oversee and prepare timely and accurate financial statements and reports for property operations and development projects. Conduct variance analysis and provide actionable recommendations to enhance financial performance.
- Help set and maintain financial and non-financial KPI’s to monitor operations.
- Review and approve lease abstracts, to help assert a standardized leasing process.
- Lead final audits of CAM reconciliations and manage recoveries.
- Prepare analytical reports related to billing, payable and cash collection cycles. Follow-up on outstanding billing as required.
- Review, manage and monitor budgets for both property operations and development projects.
- Monitor and manage cash flow forecasts for both property operations and development projects.
- Improve and monitor internal controls of the real estate division by developing, implementing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance of robust accounting, and business processes, policies and procedures in compliance with ASPE and applicable regulatory laws and regulations.
- Lead and mentor a high performing real estate finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure professional growth of staff.
- Liaise with various stakeholders including Property Managers, Development Team, External Auditors and Tax Professionals.
- Manage ERP system maintenance and administration including module evaluation and implementation to find efficiencies in processes and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- CPA professional accounting designation required.
- Minimum 5-year progressive accounting or finance experience in real estate operations or development, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting principals, financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Proactive in learning and updating knowledge of accounting standards, taxation and legislation.
- Exceptional verbal and written communications skills. Ability to present financial information effectively to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships.
- Experience working with Yardi and Microsoft PowerBi considered an asset.
