Knox Presbyterian Church Guelph has an immediate need for a part-time Facilities Coordinator & Custodian. The Facilities Coordinator & Custodianis responsible for cleaning the interior of the facilities of Knox Presbyterian Church Guelph, ensuring the facilities are set-up appropriately for the activities of the congregation, basic repairs and maintenance, and maintenance of the grounds of the facility. This role reports to the Property Committee & HR Committees. Knox adheres to all standards set out in the Employment Standards Act (ESA) unless otherwise noted. Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check is required. This is a part time position and will start at 20 hours per week, with the potential to move to 30 hours per week. Rate of pay is $25.00 per hour. Flexibility of work hours is required and will include Sunday opening and closing of the church. Working hours for a 20-hour work week would typically occur between 8:30am and 12:30pm Monday to Thursday, and Sunday 9:00am until 1:00pm (8:30am until 3:30pm Monday to Thursday, and 9:00am-1:00pm Sunday for a 30-hour week). Note that 30-minute unpaid meal breaks as per the ESA, are not included in total working hours that exceed 5 hours/day. Requirements include on call for emergencies, weather events or other scheduled activities. The position has the right to all statutory holidays, save when Christmas Day or any other statutory holiday falls on a Sunday. Payment for public holidays worked will be as per the ESA.

**Description**
- Perform scheduled cleaning of church facilities, including all interior areas, restocking of supplies and inventory management, garbage collection and removal.
- Responsible for outside maintenance of grounds including snow/ice removal, maintenance of property including gardens.
- Coordination, scheduling, and key contact for all outside maintenance services (City, Security, HVAC, Fire etc), ensuring that maintenance and preventative maintenance is conducted as appropriate.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance as required to ensure that the church facilities continue to function in a safe and well-maintained manner.
- Setup rooms and facilities for the activities of the congregation and visitors and clean up of facilities post event. If setup and cleanup timing falls outside of normal work hours, the employee has the right to accept or decline additional work.
- Open the church and sanctuary one hour before the scheduled service and close the church approximately one hour after the service concludes.

**Qualifications**

The Facilities Coordinator & Custodian must be observant, respectful, motivated, and committed to providing church members, visitors, and staff with a clean, functional, and orderly place to worship and congregate. Furthermore, the position calls for someone who is flexible, proactive, efficient, and can operate independently and shift smoothly as priorities and demands change. The Facilities Coordinator & Custodian must posses a friendly and collaborative spirit to perform their duties and serves in a way that is consistent with Knox Presbyterian Church’s mission, values, and theology. The Facilities Coordinator & Custodian must be knowledgeable and experienced with proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques and have the technical and physical ability to make basic repairs and maintenance to the building, including plumbing and electrical. Experience in custodial duties and basic repairs and maintenance is required.
