Burlington, Canada Halton District School Board Full time

**Position Summary**:
The HDSB recently introduced a Work from Home Administrative Procedure. In accordance with this Administrative Procedure and with the approval of the immediate supervisor, employees who work at HDSB administrative sites may work from home for up to 50% of their regularly scheduled hours. The HDSB offers funding for professional development in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment for management and administration support staff.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Strategic Direction and Planning

Investigate and assess new technologies, identifying benefits and costs associated estimating return on investment

Consult with other departments/schools and stakeholders to develop a cross-organization approach and standards for streamlining processes

Provide input and recommendations to support Ministry requirements/initiatives to ensure compliance and mitigate impact to the Board and staff

Create reports and implementation strategies recommending directions for the Board determined through research and consultation

Provide input and recommendations to the Board’s Multi-year Plan and plan to achieve identified targets

Participation in and development of plans for Proof of Concept and/or Pilot programs relating to technology

Project Management

Recommend, create and manage Project Budgets

Create project plans

Lead cross department/Board project teams, manage and assign responsibilities

Review and monitor project to meet timelines

Respond to issues and situations that will impact project

Communicate status of project to end users and system

Supervision of Staff

Provide guidance and counselling of staff for both personal growth and day to day decision making

Perform Goal Setting & conduct Growth & Appraisal processes

Identify, plan and assign new tasks

Ensure assigned tasks are completed in a timely manner

Interview and hire new staff

Provide direction for staff in tasks assigned, preventive maintenance or emergency situations

Facilitate meetings

Security and Maintenance for Board Information Technology, Data and Account Management

Ensure processes are in place for ongoing monitoring of software ensuring maximum up time

Monitor security and maintenance looking for issues and opportunities to enhance/resolve issues

Review of current business processes to identify new opportunities to automate and Improve on existing solutions

Work with vendors to ensure security compliance and Boards’ data is protected

Review and identify access requirements with functional leads, automate access to Board software for staff and students where possible and continue to investigate/implement solutions where automation cannot be utilized

Customer Service/Support and Resolution

Effectively provide leadership for the resolution of matters in a timely fashion to ensure the continuous operation of technological systems within the Board

Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting to staff when situations arise that are not immediately resolved

Identification of support trends and building of plans to resolve the issue permanently

Development of sustainable solutions for end user support

Identification of measurable targets to continually improve customer service to end users (Staff, Students, Parents)

**Qualifications**:
**Minimum Requirements required**:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

5 years of leadership experience in managing information technology projects and teams

Certificate in Information and Communication Technology Management (OASBO)

Project Management Course — Certified training

Leadership/Management Training Program

Business Analysis Certification

IT Project Management

Strong analytical, facilitation and problem solving skills

Leadership Development

Knowledge of MFIPPA and PHIPA

ISC2 CC certification - certified in Cyber Security

**Preferred Requirements required**:
Bachelor’s Degree with Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology

7 years of leadership experience in managing information technology services within a school board environment with direct supervision of staff

Diploma in School Board Administration (OASBO)

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)

Ability to translate complex technology concepts

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

Effective financial literacy skills

Excellent knowledge of Student Information Systems in Ontario K-12

Strong knowledge of Ministry Ontario School Information System (OnSIS) requirements, processes and procedures

Strong knowledge of Student Information Systems

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
