Reporting to the General Supervisor, Technical Services, the main function of the Supervisor, Property Management & Maintenance Services is to supervise the provision of specialized and technical services in order to maintain, support and enhance the parklands, facilities, and equipment assets of the City.

**Major **Responsibilities**:
The primary functions associated with this position include, but are not limited to:
Supervises the activities of staff members and contractors involved in:

- Repair/maintenance of outdoor pool filtration systems
- Repair/maintenance of refrigeration systems for outdoor artificial ice rinks and arenas
- Repair/maintenance and installation of a varied amount of sports lighting, walkway and parking lot lighting, and facility lighting
- Electrical services for parks and facilities, special events, public address systems and sound systems
- Minor building renovations; arena boards, glass replacement
- Repairs/maintenance of all park and facility amenities, e.g. painting, sign installations, fencing and welding services
- Repair/maintenance of all plumbing systems associated with indoor and outdoor pools, splash pads, wading pools, ornamental fountains, computerized irrigation systems, park water services, pools, arenas, and community centres
- Supervises vehicle and equipment assets of the division, by ensuring long-range planning, timely repair and maintenance of fleet and equipment
- Monitors and verifies fleet charges and identifies impact on operating budget
- Coordinates training programs associated with the operation of division vehicles and equipment
- Supervises the management and activities of the Division’s stores and warehouse services, courier services, communication services, and yard services
- Ensures the efficient maintenance of facilities, fleet and equipment, which includes the repair, procurement and replacement of department assets as required. This involves researching innovative and green vehicle, equipment and component replacement options and the preparation of reports, business cases and briefing notes as required. Directs and monitors staff through on-site assessments in the delivery and contracting of Services to provide construction, installations, maintenance and repairs to the Division’s infrastructure and to ensure that it meets legislative requirements
- Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program-specific requirements
- Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance
- Supervises the day to day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work.
- Recommends staffing resolutions (e.g. vacation, overtime, performance, discipline, etc) to General Supervisor
- Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations
- Conducts building audits to ensure legislative compliance
- Establishes, implements and monitors performance measures including fiscal and program performance within the District to ensure services are meeting the goals of the Parks, Forestry and Recreation Division
- Ensures that the infrastructure and physical assets of the Division’s facilities, parks, and equipment are conserved and maintained in a good state of repair and usefulness by identifying needs and managing programs of major maintenance through the capital planning process
- Reviews plans for capital and current projects to determine materials, equipment and personnel requirements. Prepares cost estimates when required. Ensures budget allocations are adhered to
- Recommends changes to design plans in resolving possible installation and maintenance problems
- Maintains computerized records concerning preventative maintenance programs, work performance, inventory, staff evaluation and discipline, timesheets, staff reports and the preparation and monitoring of budgets
- Communicates with staff across the Division to ensure consistency in delivery of service
- Responds to emergency and/or priority situations by anticipating problems, making decisions, marshalling and deploying appropriate financial and human resources
- Provides essential leadership and interdivisional representation with the workplace and community, represents the Division on community and project committees and consults with Councillors and Councillors' Assistants
