About Global Functions

HSBC’s Global Functions play a vital role in supporting the bank’s Global Businesses and offer a broad range of career opportunities in areas from Legal, Risk and Finance to Human Resources, Sustainability and Communications. Our operational and functional teams around the world help HSBC’s Global Businesses to operate efficiently and effectively on a day-to-day basis. They also focus on controls and governance to reduce risk and protect the Group’s reputations.

The Manager, Strategic Partnerships will drive development, engagement and awareness of corporate sustainability programs in Canada to support HBSC’s net zero and philanthropic objectives. Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, this role will be responsible for end-to-end partnership management, including developing, planning, administration and implementation of sustainability and philanthropic programs. Implements programs by working across the organization and with external stakeholders to engage employees, meet partnership deliverables, measure and communicate impact.
- Support with designing locally-specific partnerships that align to Group strategy, including global environmental flagship aligned programs. This includes implementing future-state of philanthropy in-region, overseeing transformation of philanthropic approach, and aligning local strategy with Group strategic priorities.
- Lead community investment/philanthropic budget planning, ensuring adherence to annual operating plan.
- Lead administration of philanthropic programs, continuing to streamline processes and work with global colleagues to find efficiencies. This may include donation agreements, impact reporting and due diligence (AB&C, COI and sanctions).
- Lead partnership deliverables by engaging employees, drafting and reviewing communications and ensuring strong impact measurement.
- Lead local management of HSBC’s global volunteering platform (HSBC Volunteering) by uploading events, supporting employees to upload events, and analysis of reporting from the platform to support internal metrics.
- Support external communications efforts including working with partners on recognition, communications and social media.
- Oversee internal employee engagement networks (e.g., Climate Action Network) to drive awareness and embed sustainability into employee behaviours and culture to support upskilling across the entity.
- Working with Communications and HR, design a plan to drive employee engagement, knowledge and awareness of HSBC sustainability programs such as global programs, philanthropic programs and all-employee training programs. Work collaboratively to deliver tactics and drive engagement.
- Serve as a key point of contact for employees and external organizations on HSBC’s philanthropic approach.
- Provide analysis and research, including charitable sector best-practice, sustainability and net zero research and competitor analysis.
- Support with internal and external website management and updates
- Work with business and functions to drive engagement and awareness on sustainability, net zero and philanthropic partnerships.
- Build HSBC’s reputation internally and externally through strategic partnerships.
- Works closely with employees and leadership to engage colleagues on sustainability and philanthropy programs.
- Serves as a key external resource with charities and industry contacts about HSBC’s approach to sustainability and philanthropy
- Serves as a leader within employee networks (e.g., Climate Action Network, volunteers), sharing best practice and guidance on organizing events, working with community partners and driving impact with sustainability and community initiatives.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects HSBC values.
- Plan community investment budget and deliver operational efficiencies with donation administration.
- Ensure community investment partners meet all due diligence requirements, including AB&C, COI and sanctions screening
- The role manages multiple projects and partnerships at the same time, working towards multiple deliverables and deadlines.
- The role works across all departments and functions, serving as an internal spokesperson for Corporate Sustainability.
- The role is responsible for internal and external relationship management, including answering questions about HSBC approach, strategy and employee engagement opportunities. The role requires strong stakeholder management skills and ability to navigate complex conversations.
