**The salary range for this position is**:
**Recruitment range: $67,040- $73,911** starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

**Performance range: starting salary to max of $87,175 **is available through annual performance increases.

- Job Summary**Mandate**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Research Finances (ADRF), the Research Finances Officer (RFO) plays a role in the day-to-day coordination and efficient processing of both externally and internally funded research grants. The RFO supports faculty through the process, in compliance with both UVic and the funding agency policies and procedures and provides guidance on funder terms and conditions. The RFO maintains positive working relationships with a multitude of internal and external partners.

**Objectives**:

- Provides post-award support financial administration, including account set-up and compliance with regulatory approvals.
- Provides financial advice, monitors research accounts, and determines eligible use of funds.
- Responsible for preparing accurate financial reports and maintaining quality data.
- Provides mentorship and training to the Research Finances Assistant (RFA).
- Job RequirementsThis position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. A degree in business, finance or accounting and experience in a research environment at a higher education, institutional setting or grant funding agency is considered an asset.

- Experience with financial analysis and statements preparation.

- Advanced proficiency with Excel spreadsheets to create and maintain complex reports and spreadsheets with ability to accurately manipulate data.
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and tailor communication style for different audiences and situations.
- Experience in maintaining confidential and sensitive information.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring team members.
- Ability to interpret and administer policies and procedures to ensure compliance with granting agency programs and policies and university policies and procedures.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage time and tasks with attention to detail.
- An understanding of UVic research/university policies, procedures, systems, and budgets is considered an asset. For example, university systems such as ViewCat, FAST Finance, Journal Voucher, WebReq, Chrome River, Team Dynamix and RAIS.
