**Position Summary**
The Catering Coordinator is responsible for managing the operations and logistics related to all MarketFresh catering services. This position often requires a mix of customer service, logístical planning, and team management skills. The role of a Catering Coordinator is vital in ensuring that all aspects of catering services are executed efficiently and to the satisfaction of the client, making it a dynamic and demanding position. The Catering Coordinator reports directly to Executive Chef.
**Job Structure**
This is a full-time hourly wage position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4% and paid sick leave. Health insurance plan is included after 6 months of full time employment and life insurance benefits are available.
**Responsibilities**
**Sales & Customer Service**
- Promote catering services to new customers and maintain relationships with existing customers
- Have a thorough understanding of all catering menus
- Clearly understand customer wants, needs, budgets, dietary restrictions, and preferences in order to meet customer requirements
- Always engage in upselling/suggestive selling
- Proactively cold calling existing clients to ensure repeat business and maintain our position in their minds
- Preparing and presenting detailed proposals and quotes for clients
- Reaching out post event to gauge satisfaction. Address and resolve any issues related to food quality or service
**Catering Production**
- Collaborating with chefs, culinary teams, and departments to execute catering orders, including accommodating special dietary needs or preferences
- Ensuring menu items are available and align with client expectations and budget
- Hands on production and creation of Catering orders involved
- Coordinating logistics for catering events, including but not limited to transportation of food and supplies, equipment if required, etc.
- Overseeing the preparation and presentation of food to ensure high and consistent standards are met
- Maintaining par levels of grab n’ go items
**Administration**
- Coordinate with the marketing team to develop any promotional materials
- Ensuring all catering activities comply with health and safety as well as food safety regulations
- Keeping detailed records of all catering orders/events, including client contacts, contracts, and feedback
- Manage all inventory specific to catering
- Monitoring sales activity to drive production decisions, menu updates, and marketing initiatives
- Creating, monitoring, and organizing the special holiday meal order templates
- Consulting relevant department managers on pricing of off menu items
**Innovation & Creativity**
- Continuing to keep menus fresh and on trend
- Developing seasonally relevant items to drive additional sales
**Qualifications**
**Education and Training**
- High School Diploma
- Food Handlers Certificate is an asset
**Skills and Experience**
- At least 1 year experience in a Catering role or related field
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to contribute to a team culture in fast paced work environment
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with others
- A passion for food and community
- Demonstrated organization skills
- Time Management skills
