Receptionist - Ambulatory Cardiology

At Sinai Health, we care, create possibilities and offer hope. We are looking for an experienced Receptionist to support our Ambulatory Cardiology department at our Mount Sinai Campus.
The Receptionist will:
- Receive and assist patients visiting Mount Sinai Hospital Ambulatory Laboratory in a professional manner
- Obtain and verify information with patients and enter their laboratory tests accurately and efficiently in the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Receive and assist patients in the Ambulatory Laboratory
- Validate patient Health Cards presented and ensures that they are the same as the individual named on the test requisition form
- Enter the patient's name, address etc. into the appropriate Electronic Medical Record (for first time patients)
- Enter the test(s) requested into the LIS
- Prepare and print a bill for uninsured or self-pay patients prior to any test(s) being performed using the private billing program
- Respond to telephone and in-person requests
- Telephone physician offices to obtain information missing from the test requisition form e.g., type of test required
- Respond to telephone calls from physician offices for special tests e.g., glucose tolerance and booking appointments for same
- Photocopy or print patient test requisitions as required by authorized persons
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of patient information
- Assists with training of new staff and students
- Perform functions as assigned by management to cover for vacation, sick leave and to adjust staffing workload requirements
- Provide feedback to management involving opportunities for improvement in patient flow and test ordering processes
- File as needed
- Other duties that may be assigned
- Job Requirements- Successful completion of a high school diploma
- 1 - 2 years recent receptionist experience in a healthcare environment (preferred)
- Proficiency in written and oral English
- Demonstrated minimum 40 wpm keyboarding skills
- Demonstrated Windows and mouse skills
- Experience in reception, registration or secretarial roles in doctors’ offices or hospitals
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Proven organization and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion, good judgement and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Demonstrated satisfactory performance and attendance record
