The mission of the Red Door Shelter is to end homelessness for each family that comes through our doors by providing safe, temporary refuge and critical services to support them in healing, rebuilding their lives and integrating back into a community. **Overall Responsibility**

Your responsibilities will include:

- Process day-to-day transactions including accounts payable invoices and banking detail entries in the QuickBooks accounting system.
- Filing of copies of A/P invoices
- Verifying that personnel transactions are processed according to applicable policies, procedures, collective agreements and applicable legislated requirements
- Collecting supporting documentation required for accounting, payroll and/or HRIS processing
- Administer bi-weekly payroll and benefits for all employees, ensuring accurate and timely processing of pay and benefits
- Maintain employee records, including personnel files, time and attendance records, and benefits records
- Ensure compliance with local regulations related to payroll, benefits, and employee records
- Maintains the staff salary bi-weekly changes and payroll information file
- Maintain payroll RRSP and Union Dues monthly Excel reconciliation files
- Maintain staff benefits Excel reconciliation files and update employee records in HRIS
- Provide support to the HR team in areas such as recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations
- Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies and procedures
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate financial reporting related to payroll and benefits
- Process weekly and monthly invoices for agency staff and contractors
- Assist with HR projects as needed
- Other duties will be assigned by the supervisor, as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Basic Accounting or Payroll
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in the non-profit sector
- Demonstrated strong experience processing payroll, accounts payable, expense reimbursements and account reconciliations
- Advanced computer skills with MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Comfortable working with various systems and ability to learn new systems quickly such as QuickBooks, Internet Banking, Payroll Systems Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), or similar systems
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage priorities and competing deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Ability to follow and adhere to policies and procedures
- Ability to exercise tact, and judgement and handle information with discretion
- Proven effective interpersonal skills and superlative service orientation in all dealings with colleagues and managers
- Sound judgment with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Demonstrated and proactive customer service orientation with an awareness, and sensitivity to, diversity
- Experience working with non-profit organizations is an asset.
