**Title**: Community Relations Representative
**Contract**: Permanent
**Hours**: 8:00am to 4:00pm
**Location**: Park Royal (Hybrid - 2 days in the office)

**About the role**
As the Community Relations Representative, you will be responsible for communications and collaboration on behalf of Health Benefits to First Nations communities. As part of the Health Benefits Team, the Representative directly implements the engagement communication plans at the community level. As a liaison between Health Benefits and our community members, the Community Relations Representative proactively identifies recommendations for joint solutions that will be beneficial to all stakeholders. This role requires unplanned overtime and attendance at meetings after hours, extensive travel throughout the region and province, and travel extensively throughout the region (and province) to attend events.

**About you**
To be successful in this role you will have:

- A university degree with specialization in Health Sciences, Education or Social Services or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience.
- Relevant, recent and significant experience in the provision of coordination support to First Nation communities (usually acquired over a 3-5 year period).
- Willingness and ability to travel by various modes of transportation (small and large aircraft, vehicles and/or boats), in various weather conditions, often to remote communities with few amenities.
- Experience working with BC First Nations/Aboriginal people at a community and/or political level including in the area of community engagement and community/organizational development.
- Experience working with First Nations leadership and communities; in developing and delivering presentations; in research, writing, and note taking; in analysis, writing reports, and providing recommendations; in facilitating community engagement or consultative processes; and with issues management and escalation.
- Knowledge and experience with the community engagement process.
- Knowledge of health related issues and those affecting First Nations communities in particular.
- Knowledge of the BC First Nations political and governance landscape from the federal, provincial and regional context.
- Excellent analytical skills, to consolidate and analyze survey data to develop preliminary recommendations.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio) and SharePoint.
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
