HR Assistant

Reporting to the HR Director you will assist in all areas of Human Resources including, staffing, recruitment, training, benefits and leaves. This is an entry level HR opportunity that can lead to advancement within the organization. The HR Assistant duties involve a wide range of support activities inside our HR department, from coordinating meetings to maintaining our employee database to posting job ads. An important part of your role will be to act as the liaison between HR Director and employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions. You’ll also assist in researching changes to policies, processes and documents as well as other duties as assigned including but not limited too:
- Assisting with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties
- Providing clerical and administrative support to Human Resources Director
- Assisting in the compilation and updating of employee records (HRIS)
- Maintain digital and electronic records of employees
- Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, etc)
- Assist on HR projects (meetings, training, surveys etc) and take minutes
- Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data (absences, bonus, leaves, etc)
- Assist in reviewing weekly staff time entry for accurate coding of hours in HRIS and Time & Billing Software
- Assist in the conduction of initial orientation to newly hired employees (ONBoarding processes)
- Assist Director of HR to source and update website content
- Event planning, social committee
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of intranet for employee information and engagement
- Produce and submit reports on general HR activities as required
- Follow up on compliance documents for all employees
**Requirements and skills**
- One year previous office experience in the Human Resources field required as an HR Assistant, Staff Assistant or relevant human resources/administrative position
- Must be able to work effectively under stress and meet deadlines.
- Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) skills and problem-solving abilities and the initiative to follow through on matters independently.
- Approachable and appropriate interacting with staff at all levels in a rapidly changing environment
- Prior experience handling confidential business matters and information with discretion
- Fast computer typing skills (MS Office, in particular)
- Hands-on experience with an HRIS
- Familiarity with ATS software and resume databases
- Basic knowledge of labor laws
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong communications skills
- Working towards degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
