The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is looking for an enthusiastic **West Coast Stewardship Coordinator** to join a team committed to protecting our most important natural areas and the plants and animals they sustain.

**Responsibilities**:
**_ Land Stewardship_**:

- Taking a lead role in the delivery of stewardship actions across a broad portfolio of fee-simple conservation lands within the West Coast Program Area which includes Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands, Haida Gwaii, the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, and the Central Coast
- Monitoring a range of projects, including fee-simple sites and conservation covenants
- Addressing threats to ecological values, including managing incompatible visitor uses and developing and implementing invasive species treatment plans, [HP1]
- Negotiating contract deliverables, administering contracts, and overseeing contractors
- Providing oversight to researchers, conservation interns, and volunteers
- Assisting Program Manager and Program Director with landscape level conservation plans
- Leading and/or supporting the development of baseline property inventories and project management plans
- Coordinating ecological and anthropogenic feature surveys
- Managing infrastructure including trails, fences, boardwalks, signs, and kiosks

**_ Partnerships_**:

- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with First Nations, neighbouring landowners, licence holders, community members, governments, and NCC’s partners
- Representing NCC at meetings, workshops, and in communities

**_ Reporting and Program Support Responsibilities:_**
- Ensuring conservation actions are aligned with NCC’s overall conservation direction and compliant with established policies and processes, as well as relevant Provincial and/or Federal laws and regulations
- Managing land use permits, licences, and tenures on NCC’s fee simple lands
- Entering data and tracking project progress using NCC’s internal record-keeping systems for ecological information, conservation targets and threats, and budgeting
- Adhering to Health and Safety standards and practises, including protocols related to working in remote locations

**Position Requirements**:
**_ Education Preferred:_**

**_ Experience Preferred_**
- Experience fostering positive relationships with community members and collaborators, including First Nations, community groups, local land trusts, government agencies, and other environmental organizations
- Managing projects related to ecological restoration, land stewardship, or other efforts related to conservation of natural systems
- Experience in land management including but not limited to access management, invasive species management, ecosystem restoration, and implementing best management practices
- Experience working in both physically challenging outdoor environments and in an office-based setting
- Experience working in remote communities and/or with Indigenous communities
- Applied knowledge of coastal ecology and geography

**_ Additional Assets_**
- Familiarity with the MS Office Suite, ESRI software or other GIS programs, & Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation
- All relevant designations and certifications: CERP(IT), R.P.Bio, B.I.T, Wilderness First Aid
- Experience with data entry and managing large sets of information
- Up to date understanding of industry trends, best practices, and advancements in conservation land management
- Experience with tools and equipment such as drills, saws, all-terrain vehicles, fence post-pounders, etc.
