Brantford, Canada LC Bakery Equipment Services LTD Full time

As part of the Procurement team, the Purchase Assistant will be responsible for ordering and purchasing supplies, materials, parts, inventory and equipment for all departments to adequately support operations of the company.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage Material Requirement Planning reports for product categories
- Collate Request for Quotation (RFQ) responses and complete costing sheets
- Manage daily purchase orders, shipment updates, approving invoices, correspondence on corrective action, non-conformance and warranty issues, lead time review & price change review
- Monitor daily reports to ensure purchase orders, fill in orders, product substitutions and early ship requests are issued in a timely manner
- Review lead time reports and supplier performance reports to minimize problems related to assigned products/suppliers
- Complete purchase order requisitions and special-order item requests in a timely manner, obtaining pricing and delivery information for inside sales
- Screen potential sources and providing guidance as to when requests are not practical for the company
- Communicate material shortages to Procurement Manager, Fabrication and Manufacturing Managers
- Create logical, systematic and orderly procedures to meet objectives
- Proactively communicate with Sales Staff, Management, and other departments
- Evaluate new and existing vendors
- Maintain a clean workstation and contribute to a safe work environment and complies with company Procedure, Rules, and Regulations
- Perform any other duties that may be superficially or generally assigned

**Required Knowledge and Experience**:

- Post-secondary education in Purchasing/Buying considered an asset
- MRP / ERP computer experience an asset
- Minimum 2 years Purchasing experience
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and initiate actions within the scope of authority
- Knowledge of Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Management is an asset
- Knowledge of the Carbon Steel, Aluminum and Stainless Steel is an asset
- Strong organizational, cooperative and willingness to learn skills
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to multitask independently and in a team environment
- Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem solving, technical and analytical skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- A commitment to safety awareness and compliance
- Ability to learn and grow within the company

**Working Conditions**:

- Most work is carried out in a typical business office with occasional visits to the shop floor
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment on the shop floor and in the office
- Exposure to elements such as dust, temperature and noise during time spent on shop floor
- Some risk of exposure to dirt, grease, temperature, chemicals while on shop floor
- May be exposed to loud or distracting sounds or noise levels
