**Position Summary**
The Global Sourcing Specialist at Slacan Industries Inc is responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s sourcing activities on a global scale. This role involves researching, identifying, and managing suppliers, negotiating contracts, ensuring the quality and consistency of the sourced products and services, and optimizing the company's supply chain for cost-efficiency and reliability.
**Responsibilities**
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers worldwide. Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Collaborate with the Purchasing team to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of goods and materials, minimizing disruptions and delays. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure favourable agreements, including pricing, payment terms, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize the company's supply chain, reduce procurement costs, and increase profitability.
- Monitor and mitigate risks related to global sourcing, including geopolitical, supply chain disruptions, and compliance issues.
- Ensure the quality and compliance of sourced products and services, working closely with the Quality Control team to meet industry standards and regulations.
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly, establish key performance indicators (KPIs), and work with underperforming suppliers to improve their performance.
- Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and emerging suppliers to identify potential opportunities or threats.
- Work closely with the Logistics and Supply Chain teams to improve the efficiency of transportation, inventory management, and distribution.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Sales, Production, Engineering, Quality Control, and ensure the successful implementation of sourcing strategies.
**Knowledge and Experience**
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Several years of experience in global sourcing and procurement, supply chain management, including experience in managing North American as well as international suppliers.
- In-depth knowledge of global supply chain dynamics, international trade, and procurement best practices.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and analytical skills. Ability to analyze data, trends, and market information.
- Knowledge of international trade regulations and compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Project management skills for executing sourcing strategies and initiatives. Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking.
- Certification in supply chain management or procurement would be considered an asset (e.g., CSCP, CIPS).
