The Court and Justice Services (CJS) Division provides a wide range of resolution and court services for people involved in legal disputes. In collaboration with the courts of Alberta, Court and Justice Services provides various programs and services including educating and helping Albertans finding solutions for legal issues, navigating the court system, offering programs at no cost or a nominal charge, and administrative support to all courts in Alberta.
**Role Responsibilities**:
As a key member reporting to the Planning and Business Manager, you'll have the unique opportunity to support senior and executive management by addressing action requests and providing vital information to the public and other stakeholders. Dive into a variety of short and long-term research projects on government initiatives, policies, programs, and services that impact court and resolution services in Alberta. **You will play a key role in the following**:
- Conduct research and synthesize timely, accurate and complete information to support recommendations to senior and executive management, including the Minister of Justice and Solicitor General, in the form of Briefing Notes, memos, meeting agendas, reports, policies, or proposals.
- Work collaboratively within the team and colleagues from other divisions and/or departments, and/or stakeholders, in an advisory capacity.
- Use research and analysis skills to aid in information gathering, sharing and support evaluation of programs or initiatives.
- Define problems, develop, and propose recommendations and alternatives that will support executive decision making, policy development, operational effectiveness, or support operational and strategic planning. Participate in project coordination and initiative implementation within the division and other divisions within the Ministry and/or within other departments with the provincial government.- Strong critical thinking skills, a sense of curiosity, and a willingness to persevere in the face conflicting priorities and challenges.
- Exceptional interpersonal, writing and communication skills, along with your ability to build and maintain positive working relationships amongst a diverse group of colleagues and stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to diplomacy and professionalism in the workplace.
- The ability to summarize and synthesize information efficiently and accurately from a variety of sources to make recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple timely research and writing projects that support Albertans seeking information or services. A strong ability to adapt to change, as well as confidence in project and time management, which are required to meet deliverables in a timely manner.Please
**Qualifications**:
**Required**:University graduation in a related field (e.g. Political Science, Public Administration, Social Sciences, English, Education, etc.) plus 2 years progressively related experience in policy and research analysis and development; or equivalent as described below.
**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.**Assets**
- Policy and research analysis and development work experience in the public or not-for-profit sector.
- Work experience with stakeholder engagement, including providing recommendations and options to senior leadership and decision-makers.
- Work experience in designing, developing, and leading small to medium sized research and writing projects.
- Work experience with a case management software. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.All applicants must include a cover letter.
