The Primary and Community Health Branch within the Health Workforce Planning and Accountability Division has the lead role in setting system level strategic policy directions, funding and accountability related to Primary and Community Health and chronic disease management. The Branch is also responsible for ensuring coordination and consistency in the development, interpretation and implementation of health policy or programs relevant to or having an impact on Primary and Community Health and chronic disease management.
**Role**:
The Implementation Unit within the Primary and Community Health Branch leads the implementation of the Primary Care Network Governance Structure to improve Alberta's ability to achieve integrated collaborative team-based primary health care that meets the needs of Albertans. This includes supporting a provincial Primary Care Network committee (PPCNC) and five zone Primary Care Network committees that provide advice to the Minister regarding Primary Care Network related issues.
The Policy Analyst plays a lead role in supporting the PPCNC including
stakeholder engagement with a number of different organizations and other areas of the department. They also provide project management in addition to coordination, research and analysis, to ensure successful implementation of the Primary Care Network governance structure. This will include policy work related to primary and community health governance and accountability. Position responsibilities include supporting the Director and Manager.
**Responsibilities**:
- Support comprehensive activities associated with the implementation of Primary and Community Health policy and direction.
- Participate on project teams in the research and analysis of primary health care policy issues and the development of policy options and recommendations.
- Support senior leadership in achieving the mandates and goals set forward under the PCN governance structure and Ministry of Health.
**Qualifications**:
A **University Degre**e in a related field (e.g. Public Administration, Business, Economics, Public Health or related field), and a minimum of **four (4) years** of progressively related policy development and project management experience is **required**.
**Required **experience includes:
- Policy development experience
- Project management or strategic planning experience
- Good political acumen
- Experience with stakeholder engagement
- Experience providing secretariat support to provincial Agencies, Boards and Committees or equivalent bodies
- Experience with Government policies, standards, protocols and priorities
- Experience in health policy
- Demonstrated ability to communicate results to key stakeholders
The following experience is considered an **asset**:
- Post-secondary degree in a related area (Health, Social Services, Public Policy or management)
