The McCord Museum Foundation, is seeking an Officer, Major Gifts and Philanthropic Development.

Located in the heart of downtown Montreal, the McCord Museum Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to ensuring the success of the McCord Stewart Museum and contributing to the preservation and dissemination of its collections. With the assistance of the Foundation’s generous donors, it supports the McCord Stewart Museum and enables it to preserve its world-renowned collections and to tell the story of Montréal, Quebec and Canada through its educational programs and exhibitions. The Foundation’s support also enables the McCord Stewart Museum’s experienced curators to pursue their meticulous research and publication activities.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful applicant will contribute to the success of the Foundation’s activities, particularly with respect to major gifts. He or she will forge new ties, maintain relationships with donors and carry out solicitation activities to achieve the organization's fundraising objectives.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- In conjunction with Foundation management, develop and implement the new donor acquisition strategy and renew existing partnerships
- On an ad hoc basis, set up fundraising campaigns requiring major gifts for specific projects
- Develop and oversee the major gift acknowledgment program
- Develop monitoring, analysis and presentation tools
- Research the industry and donors
- Work with management to identify, recruiting and coordinate the volunteer structures needed for donor solicitations Monitor developments in philanthropy in order to leverage best practices
- As required, perform data entry and updates in the computerized database and produce required reports
- Plan and effectively manage budgets for programs under his/her responsibility.
- Ensure accounting/administrative follow-up for major gifts
- Monitor philanthropy trends to integrate best practices.

- Consolidate multi-year partnerships with foundations and corporate donors
- Develop strategies to ensure the growth of the McCord Museum Foundation’s Sustainability Fund
- Design and prepare the presentation of the Foundation’s impact report
- Ensure optimal collaboration with the Museum team

- Full-time regular position (35 to 40 hours per week); three (3) months probationary period.

**DESIRED PROFILE**

In addition, they should meet the following requirements:

- An undergraduate degree in communication, marketing, business administration or a related field (a certificate in philanthropy is an asset)
- At least three years of experience in managing fundraising activities (a relevant combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of this requirement)
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual, both verbally and in writing
- Considerable experience with philanthropic practices and strategies
- Able to think strategically and to develop and maintain results

- Sound knowledge of computer databases, an asset
