Bookkeeper/accounts Assistant

This is a dual role within the company,
**Bookkeeper Responsibilities**:
- Process payments and documents such as invoices, monthly journal entries and reconcile several bank and credit card statements.
- Knowledge of Currency exchange and how to account for that.
- Basic Understanding of full cycle accounting, able to prepare financial statements, for companies that have basic transactions.(similar activities each year).
- Submit year end filing info of various companies and family members personal tax return information.
- Prepare and file HST returns.
- VAT return preparation and filing online.
- Prepare net worth statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
**Qualifications and Experience**
- Must have a working knowledge of Simply Accounting / Sage Software or similar software.
- Yardi software experience an asset.
- Expert Word and Excel knowledge.
- Accounting or Book-Keeping diploma required and Office Administration diploma or demonstrated equivalent experience required.
- Office working experience in Book
- keeping for a minimum of 3 years is required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (verbal & written), work independently or in a team environment.
- Must have knowledge/experience with basic accounting procedures and office management systems and procedures.
**Education and Certifications**
- Minimum education required: University Degree or College Diploma
**Accounts Receivable Responsibilities**
- Preparation of Tenant reconciliations of operating costs and property taxes
- Preparation of monthly/quarterly/etc. reporting distributions/zero distributions for the co-tenants of the properties and maintaining ownership information in YARDI
- Preparation of year-end accruals and account reconciliations to assist with review engagements and development of financial statements - assistance with latter
- Review and input of new Tenants into the software system and set up of recoveries as per the Lease or Agreement to Lease, as well as Renewal Documents and other Tenant agreements.
- Preparation of budgets and calculating cost recoveries from Tenants
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations
- Posting of the monthly recurring payables in the software system-Yardi
- Knowledge of Yardi and Payscan and workflows
- Prepare ad-hoc reports
- Other accounting duties as specified

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
