BEST, or Better Environmentally Sound Transportation, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable transportation since 1991. Our vision is to build vibrant, inclusive communities through sustainable transportation. Our mission is to activate better transportation options through initiatives, collaboration, and leadership.

Currently, BEST's programs include The Bike Valet, a social enterprise offering free and secure bicycle parking in Metro Vancouver and the City of Victoria. The Bike Valet is supported by a dedicated team of staff, volunteers, and summer students, all working passionately to foster sustainable transportation options within local communities.

**Job Title: Bike Valet Attendant**

**Hourly Wage: $18**

**Job Types: Part Time, Seasonal**

The Bicycle Valet Attendant position involves crucial responsibilities in setting up and dismantling bicycle parking facilities. As a key team member, you'll engage in welcoming cyclists, securely parking bicycles, and providing information about the Bicycle Valet service. This role not only requires a hands-on approach to lightweight equipment but also offers the chance to contribute to broader initiatives such as supporting active transportation contests and participating in projects like bike registrations on Project 529.

**Responsibilities**:

- Facilitate the setup and takedown of equipment at Bike Valet events/seasonal locations.
- Warmly greet cyclists and assist in securely parking their micro mobility devices.
- Provide information and address questions regarding the Bike Valet service.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure the delivery of exceptional service.
- Embody the organization's values and exhibit a strong commitment to sustainable transportation practices.
- Assist with the registration of bikes on Project 529 and support City-sponsored active transportation contests over the past year.

**Qualifications**:

- Willingness to engage in basic physical tasks, including setting up lightweight equipment and parking bicycles, along with other event-related duties as needed.
- Enthusiasm for sustainable transportation and a genuine interest in providing excellent service to patrons.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills with a warm and friendly demeanor, demonstrating the ability to excel in a role that requires continuous social interaction.
- Appreciation for teamwork and the ability to work effectively outdoors.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Seasonal

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- On call
- Weekends as needed

**Experience**:

- Customer service: 1 year (preferred)

Ability to Commute:

- Vancouver, BC (preferred)

Work Location: In person
