**ABOUT THE COLLEGE**:
The College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario is the regulatory organization that oversees the practice of occupational therapists (OTs) in Ontario. Our job is to make sure that the public receives safe, effective, ethical care from OTs.

Our mission is to protect the public and instill confidence and trust by ensuring occupational therapists are competent, ethical, and accountable. We are Canada’s largest regulator of occupational therapists, and we oversee more than 6,500 occupational therapists registered here in Ontario.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic HR Intern/Summer Student to help support our People & Culture initiatives. They will have the opportunity to assist in facilitating various components of the employee life cycle. As well as gain first-hand knowledge of HR best practices, policies, and procedures within the corporate & regulatory environment.

This role will report to the People & Culture Lead and be responsible for various tasks including but not limited to the those listed below.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:

- Support the full cycle recruitment process including updating job descriptions, posting on various job boards, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting reference checks and coordinating background checks.
- Help with the on-boarding and orientation processes by requesting and collecting required paperwork for HR and Payroll purposes.
- Facilitate training modules based on employment and labor law requirements such as workplace health and safety, accessibility, violence, and harassment awareness etc.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as updating employee records, filing documents, and organizing HR files in the respective document management platforms.
- Help support time-off functions through monitoring and updating the system as required based on internal policies.
- Draft minutes for staff meetings and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare general correspondence, letters and announcements related to HR.
- Participate in organizing social and team building activities.

**WHAT YOU WILL NEED**:

- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program for Human Resources, Business Administration/Management, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other employment and labor laws.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Able to set priorities and organize work effectively to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and integrity when dealing with sensitive information.
- Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power point, Outlook).
- Flexible, positive and adaptable - able to work in an evolving environment.

**COMPENSATION**:
The compensation for this position is $18-19/hour.

The College’s physical office is located at 20 Bay Street (Suite 900), Toronto, ON. Located in the downtown core, next to Union Station and the PATH. Our offices provide convenient, ideal access to public transit.
