We have an opportunity for a Building Services Specialist II.
**Job Summary**:
The Building Services Specialist II is accountable to the Building Services Manager for all activities related to project work supporting facility and utilities systems at Septodont. This includes providing support to the Building Services team, troubleshooting facility systems, conducting repairs, monitoring building infrastructure as per procedures and Engineering Best Practices. These building equipment/systems include, but are not limited to, HVAC systems, Effluent & Drainage Systems, Laboratory Utilities, Building Automation System, Electrical Systems, and other Facilities equipment.
This role is also responsible for managing third party contractor activities including, but not limited to, work coordination, site visits, site inspections, work permits and coordinating with other areas for repairs / projects execution.
**Responsibilities**:
- Manage and leads facilities engineering initiatives and projects which may involve interaction with multiple departments, from conception, installation to commissioning. The assigned projects will range between minor and major capital budgets.
- Liaise, negotiate, and obtain quotes from vendors, suppliers, and contract services.
- Assume responsibility for the day-to-day building maintenance related decisions and escalate issues to the Manager as required, including any building or equipment deficiencies and unsafe working conditions.
- Provides ongoing technical support in any facilities area as required (production equipment is out of scope).
- Liaises regularly with internal customers to understand their technical service needs, maintains a high degree of co-operation with other departments to ensure internal and external customers’ satisfaction.
- Manage and oversee quality systems documentation related to building services i.e., corrective actions, deviations, change control, quality documentation.
- Identify and complete studies for equipment and facilities upgrades and improvements to minimize downtime, turnaround time and waste reduction while maintaining the highest standard of quality.
- Supports risk assessments and GAP analysis of building services system and recommends continuous improvement and risk mitigations.
- Manage and supervise that all outside service companies and contractors are performing jobs according to procedures, ensures contractors and Building Services personnel follow all safety related company policy.
- Required to support outside of regular office hours for project implementations or equipment trouble shooting support.
- Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Designs, reformats, and amends any Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
Education
- Bachelor of Engineering/Engineering Science degree is a requirement.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in pharmaceutical, food/beverage or consumer packaging.
- Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is an asset.
- P.Eng. designation is preferred.
- PMP designation is an asset.
- Able to read and interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical and P&ID drawings/schematics.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrates initiative, problem solver, team player and self-motivated
- Has the ability to lead and take ownership on systems and projects
