**About COPA**

The Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) is Canada’s largest aviation association and works to make flying more accessible and affordable across the country. We represent nearly 13,000 pilots located in all 10 provinces and one territory. Our members are aviation enthusiasts of every age group, including many airline and commercial pilots, engineers, business people--even astronauts. They enjoy all types of aircraft, including experimental machines, drones, fixed-wing aircraft, gliding planes, helicopters, and floatplanes.

Our 200+ network of chapters known as COPA Flights promote aviation within their local communities by hosting events offering free introductory flights to the general public, organizing fly-in's with fellow aviation enthusiasts, and offering safety training.

**The Role**

The Membership Relations Coordinator (MRC) will lead the development and coordination of the COPA membership experience.

You will be a key member of the head office team providing support to approximately 13,000 COPA members. You will be responsible for identifying and implementing programs and benefits for members. You will be responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining processes for the recruitment and retention of COPA members (organizations and individuals). You will ensure that member databases and the association’s membership systems remain current and up to date. You will work with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to develop new communication channels and communications to deliver timely and relevant information to members regarding COPA operations and industry affairs. You will provide leadership and support to the Administrative and Membership Coordinator in resolving membership issues and ensuring membership queries are addressed in a timely manner. You will also analyze office processes and policies, develop creative solutions to problems, answer questions, and take part in financial planning and decision making.

As the leader of the member experience, you should be committed to providing attentive support for internal and external parties and ensuring consistent, efficient operations. You should be courteous, analytical, proactive, and organized.

**What you will do**

The Membership Relations Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the membership experience for current members, prospective members, and others. The MRC will develop, promote and communicate the benefits of a COPA membership. Other responsibilities include:
Relationship Management
- Provide a high level of service including building strong relationships with members, non-members, donors and others.
- Assist COPA in identifying, implementing and engaging in effective collaborative member programs.
- Support COPA fundraising activities, establish relationships with potential donors and participate in fundraising as assigned.
- Participate in promotion of membership, member benefits, programs and services.

Membership Initiatives
- Identify and implement programs and benefits for members
- Identify membership needs for support and service.
- Assist in the general planning and implementation of programs designed to cultivate, maintain, and strengthen member ties to each other and to the association.

Administrative
- Maintain and update membership data and systems.
- Collect and analyze member data, track membership statistics, and preparing reports.
- Work with the Executive Administrator/Office Manager and the Administrative and Membership Coordinator to ensure timely completion of administrative tasks related to membership and payment processing, coordination of membership renewals, production of membership reports, updating membership data on website and in other functional systems.
- Maintain a process for tracking and acknowledging all COPA membership issues.

Recruitment & Retention
- Develop, deliver, and maintain processes for the recruitment and retention of COPA members
- Organizing events and activities for existing and prospective members.
- Solicit new and renew memberships.

**What we are looking for**
- Minimum High school diploma or equivalent.
- Post-Secondary degree in Communications, Marketing or a related program would be an asset.
- Exceptional interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills in French and English.
- Proficiency with office technology and equipment
- Experience in member management, communications, marketing, sales, or recruitment.
- Knowledge and experience in using and maintaining membership database systems.
- Experience with developing membership system content and communications would be an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to think creatively and take initiative.
- Excellent writing and editing skills.
- Problem solving skills.
- Strong task and time management skills.
- Basic math skills and understanding of basic financial concepts.
