Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a **Skills & Development Coach, Electrical**.

The Skills Coach will play an integral role in supporting both our apprentices and the continuous improvement of the ISI Apprenticeship Program. By helping embed a clear focus on safety, quality and ongoing development, our Skills Coaches can help us achieve our shared vision.

**Qualifications**:

- Education Required:

- High School Diploma/ GED or equivalent
- Red Seal Electrical
- Experience Required:

- Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Electrician
- Minimum 9 months’ experience as a Red Seal Electrician
- 3-5 years’ applicable trade experience in an industrial, mechanical, manufacturing or shipbuilding environment
- Supervisory experience desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem solving skills and ability to lead and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)._

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Apprentice skill development
- Monitor and support the on-the-job skill development of our apprentices through mentoring, coaching and training including:

- Embed clear focus on safety and quality
- Develop and implement the rotational plan for apprentices to ensure that they are given the full scope of their trade
- Liaise with trade managers and trainers regarding training provided
- Support the holistic development and pastoral care of apprentices by role modelling Irving values and maintaining high expectations set by the program
- Conduct base line assessments, skill assessments, pastoral and skill monitoring meetings and reviews.
- Maintain detailed and timely records
- Support and track apprentices’ progress towards Red Seal:

- Preparation and delivery of training
- Ensure apprentices progress their training in a timely manner
- Maintain own skills and knowledge of the curriculum to support apprentices
- Organize, lead and support interventions to help apprentices prepare for examinations/ technical training
- Help develop a resource bank to support apprentices
- Support recruitment activities by participating in interviews/selection processes and supporting outreach interventions
