Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full-time, 40 hours per week, Onboarding Specialist in EDMONTON to join our Immigration team. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community.
**Job Summary**:
CSS’ new strategic plan, Let Love Alone Speak identifies the “pursuit of organizational excellence by focusing on staffing continuity, ensuring positive workplace environments, and fostering strong relationships with each other” as key priorities. The Program Supervisor, Staff Onboarding and Development is responsible for supporting the implementation of these, and other priorities across the Immigration and Settlement Service (ISS). The Program Supervisor will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive initial on-boarding process for all new hires in ISS, supporting supervisors to build and maintain a culture of coaching and accountability, spearhead Service-wide professional development activities, and ensure all staff are aware of available skill development and growth opportunities.
**Job Duties**:

- Identify and action ways to strengthen all stages of the employee life cycle, from finding talent to off-boarding.
- Represent ISS at recruitment events.
- Coordinate and communicate on-boarding processes with HR and supervisors.
- Create and implement a thorough onboarding program that introduces new ISS staff to the Agency's mission, values, culture, policies, and procedures, including, including: office tours; introduction to key staff and stakeholders; orientation to ISS and critical Agency policies; set-up and overview of database accounts and technology; shadowing of Service-wide programs; and registration in mandatory trainings.
- Assist supervisors with the development of tailored 90-day plans for new hires, detailing expectations of responsibilities, skills, and competencies to be demonstrated for the position in that period, how those skills will be taught, and dates and times for weekly formal supervision.
- Initiate formal check-ins with new staff at 3- and 6-months to monitor progress and arrange support.
- Help supervisors produce program and/or position-specific manuals as a useful staff resource.
- Oversee ongoing success of the coaching conversation process, including: monitoring effectiveness of coaching conversation fields; providing training to supervisors as needed; and ensuring supervisors are regularly conducting coaching conversations and performance appraisals.
- Screen and arrange all ISS practicum student placements.
- Monitor Service-wide recruitment and retention trends and challenges, and develop strategies to address identified issues, including recommending improvements to recruitment practices, onboarding processes, and employee engagement initiatives to enhance retention.
- Facilitate New Staff Orientation sessions quarterly.
- Organize Program Networking opportunities quarterly.
- Identify training needs and lead ISS-wide professional development initiatives, including biannual all-staff development day, mandatory ISS staff training, and monitor and rectify Service-wide skill gaps and deficiencies.
- Maintain and share up-to-date opportunities for staff skill development and growth, such as trainings, committees, and supervisory practice.
- Develop a plan to define, assess and monitor equitable access to growth and development opportunities.
- Oversee ISS volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and development.
- Prepare and submit program reports and statistics; participate in the preparation of reports and proposals according to Agency’s/funders’ policies and procedures.
- Assist in developing and managing program budgets.
- Ensure serious occurrence, and other, reports are documented and submitted to the Director and Vice President of Services.
- Represents the Agency in a professional manner in various community groups and committees.
- Participate in community and sector advocacy and social action processes.
- Promote good and positive public relations.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**What This Job Requires**:

- Degree in Human Services, education or equivalent.
- 7+ years delivering services and managing projects in a culturally-diverse environment.
- Additional relevant certifications or designations considered an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
