The Sheriffs Branch is dedicated to promoting safe and resilient communities, performing a wide range of activities in collaboration with other law enforcement and policing partners in Alberta. In addition to the office of the Chief, there are five directorates within the Branch: Court and Transport Services (CTS), Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services (FWES), Protection and Communication Services (PCS), Operational Support Services (OSS) and Sheriff Highway Patrol Services (SHPS).

**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you interested in providing analytical support, researching, gathering, analyzing and disseminating information and intelligence to assist the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team (FASST) and the Safer Communities and Neighborhoods team (SCAN) in their investigations? This position will provide analytical support to both the FASST and SCAN teams. The role of an analyst is to evaluate and if appropriate, complete robust investigations into complaints of certain types of criminal activities at premises such as producing, selling or using illegal drugs, solvent abuse, unlawful sale or consumption of alcohol, prostitution, child sexual abuse, and gang or organized crime activities. In supporting FASST, the Analyst will be able to provide analytical support, FASST target research, threat assessment and target sheet creation. The Analyst provides a critical function assisting the FASST team members with both warrant apprehension target selection and analytical support. The Analyst will also provide support to the SCAN Analyst, who performs a crucial analytical function to assist SCAN investigators in their role of fulfilling the SCAN mandate by assessing and using the intelligence and information gathered in the course of a SCAN investigation.

You will report directly to the Inspectors of FASST in Calgary and Edmonton, work collaboratively with the FASST Sheriffs and SCAN Investigators, while developing networks with law enforcement agencies throughout the province.

Working with Inspectors as needed, you will help support the mandate and goals of the FASST and SCAN Teams. Key components of this will include:

- Identifying FASST targets wanted on outstanding warrants, generating target sheets and assisting with Threat Assessments when required;
- Liaising with Provincial Corrections assisting with the Electronic Monitoring Project (High Risk Warrant Apprehension);
- Maintaining and strengthening stakeholder relationships;
- Identifying innovative ways to track statistical information and maintain the records management system;
- Prioritizing SCAN investigations and proposing innovative recommendations to manage a high workload.

**Role Responsibilities Continued**:
Lastly, you must have a strong sense of developing networks, as you will consult with law enforcement agencies and public and private sector organizations when gathering information for the purpose of exchange and intelligence. You will leverage these relationships to provide this information gathered, and share information from common law enforcement internal reporting systems including, but not limited, APSA (Alberta Public Security Application), CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre), MOVES (Motor Vehicles and Driver Licensing Information System), JOIN (Justice Online Information Network), and ORCA (Offender Records and Correctional Administration).

**Minimum Recruitment Standards**:
A university degree in a related field (Law Enforcement, Policing, Law and Society, Social Sciences etc.) plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation, report writing or equivalent.

Experience related to the security of information, and storage of classified and sensitive material is also required.

Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

The following are considered assets:

- Two years of progressively responsible related experience in data collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of results, preferably in a field requiring some degree of risk management.
- Working knowledge of the criminal justice system and related legislation including familiarity with the Criminal Code of Canada, Residential Tenancies Act, Provincial bylaws, Municipal Government Act and the Safer Communities and Neighborhoods Act and the associated data management systems.
