**Public Safety and Emergency Services**
Keeping Alberta communities safe and secure, and ensuring our province is prepared for and resilient to the impacts of disasters.
Our responsibilities include working with partners in law enforcement, justice, health and social services for a fair and accessible justice system that upholds rule of law while supporting the needs of individuals. We are responsible for the custody and supervision of adults and young persons under correctional authority, as well as the facilitation of rehabilitation. In collaboration with municipalities, Metis Settlements and First Nations, we lead disaster preparation, mitigation, response and recovery to increase individual and community resilience.
**Role Responsibilities**:
The **Strategic Reporting Analyst **plays a crucial role in advancing Ministry strategic priorities by leading the development and implementation of key performance indicator reporting. Reporting to the Manager of Business and Strategic Reporting, this position ensures the Executive Team’s information needs are met through best practices in dashboard design and development.
Key responsibilities include:
- **Developing, maintaining, and coordinating the PSES Performance Indicator Dashboard** with input from various divisions and business areas.
- **Capturing and analyzing strategic trends **to support policy and program development.
- **Facilitating the development of tools and statistical models** to assess policy questions and their impacts on the public safety system and emergency services.
The** Senior Research and Evaluation Analyst **is a key resource in the ministry, responsible for conducting detailed research and evaluation related to Alberta’s criminal, family, and civil justice systems. This role supports the development and execution of complex evaluation frameworks to advance Ministry priorities, new initiatives, and ongoing operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- **Proactively understanding research trends **impacting the ministry.
- **Providing consultative expertise** for ministry projects.
- **Employing project management techniques **to support research and evaluation.
- **Conducting detailed studies **to promote and disseminate evidence.
- **Supporting knowledge translation** by developing frameworks, tools, resources, and reports.
- **Representing the ministry** on research and evaluation committees.
Both roles involve significant collaboration with stakeholders to ensure evidence-based decision-making and effective knowledge translation.

**Minimum Requirements**:
- University graduation in Social Science, mathematics, statistics or related field:
- PLUS a minimum of 4 years analyzing and interpreting data
- Equivalencies will be considered on a one year-for-one-year basis.
**Assets**:
- Advanced knowledge of social science research methodology and applied research design including ethical guidelines, data availability and data collection
- Understanding of how the criminal justice system is structured and operates.
- Strong understanding of evaluation principles and processes, including formative, summative, and developmental evaluation methodologies, evaluation frameworks, logic models, and theories of change, social return on investment
- Experience with project management skills and ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.
- Experience with data management and visualization software such as SAS, SPSS, NVivo, Power BI as well as survey platforms.
