**JOB SUMMARY**

The position is primarily focused on supporting the critical VMware virtual infrastructure throughout multiple environments with complex designs and architectures. This is a senior role requiring advanced knowledge of VMware’s suite of products including, but not limited to, vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, vRealize Operations Manager, and Lifecycle Manager. You will be expected to assist with the administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and documenting of the virtual infrastructure along with the design and architecture of future states. The roles secondary focus is with supporting our Azure public cloud infrastructure and related service including, but not limited to, VM provisioning, Storage Accounts, Resource Groups, optimal subscription utilization as well as staying up to date on the cloud technologies and solutions offered by Azure. It requires intermediate knowledge of the Azure services and will be assisting with administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and documenting the related Azure infrastructure and services. We are looking into automation of virtual infrastructure and these roles will be key in supporting and developing it.

As part of this role you will also be required to assist with the support of our hardware technology specifically Dell server systems, Dell Avamar/Data Domain backup hardware and SAN storage systems which are presently being negotiated. This includes everything from racking and stacking the devices to firmware updates, troubleshooting and provisioning the hardware and operating systems as needed. We use Dell OpenManage Enterprise and OpenManage Enterprise Integration for VMware vCenter so experience with these products is considered an asset.

This Analyst will be working within a team, but will also need to work independently on many tasks to ensure deliverable timelines are met. They will often work closely with other business areas during issue resolution or project participation and may assist in the development of new system specifications and procurement/purchasing. They will adhere to applicable IT processes and may develop new processes and procedures, and provide coaching and direction to other team members as needed. Creating and updating documentation are critical disciplines required for this position.

This role requires participation in an on call 24/7 rotation where you are on call for 1 week at a time.

**SKILLS/ABILITIES**
- Related Technical Diploma (e.g. NAIT Computer Systems Technology), or related University Degree (Computer Science or Engineering).
- A minimum of four years of progressive experience working with VMware virtual infrastructure.
- A minimum of one year progressive experience leading technical projects within a specific discipline.

Detailed knowledge of:

- VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN technologies
- Storage technologies (SAN, NFS, iSCSI etc.) and how they integrate with the virtualization layer
- Virtual infrastructure, the key components and how they integrate and interact
- Experience with PowerShell and scripting.
- Experience with physical server/storage/backup infrastructure including related management tools
- Backup infrastructure and functionality along with how it integrates with virtual and physical environments
