Sureway Construction Group of Companies is recruiting for a professional** Payroll Coordinator **to join our team

**Location**: Edmonton, AB (9175 - 14 Street NW) Please note: there is no direct access to public transportation.

**Hours**: Monday-Friday; 8:00am - 4:30pm (IN-OFFICE)

**Payroll Coordinator Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience**:

- Three (3) + years’ experience in full cycle payroll.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- Experience in a unionized payroll environment is an asset.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required.
- Completion of post-secondary education in Accounting or Business is an asset.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically strong in Excel).
- Excellent knowledge of payroll principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Service Canada processes and procedures.
- Advanced knowledge of income tax forms, ROE’s, T4’s, health benefits programs, vacation pay, RRSP, Pensions, WCB, etc.
- Knowledge and working understanding of the Alberta Employment Standards Code.
- High degree of quality in regards to; attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to keep a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Extremely reliable, mature and professional.
- Highly resourceful, intuitive and flexible.
- Ability to work independently and multitask, as well as work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong aptitude for Payroll systems, experience with Explorer Contract Manager is an asset.

**Payroll Coordinator Functions/Responsibilities**:

- Process full-cycle hourly payroll ensuring pay for employees is accurate and on-time; payroll cycles are bi-weekly pay runs.
- Process two (2) Collective Bargaining Agreements within the payroll system and ensure the organization is complying with those agreements.
- Reconcile account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate reporting and complying with related policies, practices and/or regulations.
- Researches discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. time sheets, leave time, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
- Professionally responds to questions and provide information to managers, staff, and departments on payroll matters.
- Maintains awareness of current payroll legislation and coordinates policy, system and or other required changes as they develop.
- Manages government remittances and provides summaries and reports.
- Year end T4 balancing and reporting.
