Victoria Academy of Ballet’s (VAB) vision is to offer outstanding dance training and academic learning opportunities for students to pursue growth and excellence, with an emphasis on the importance of a dancer’s overall health and their successful career ambitions. As Vancouver Island’s most prominent dance school, VAB offers specialized dance instruction for students of all ages and levels. VAB’s Open Division provides full-year and sessional classes allowing students to dance from one to multiple times per week. The Academy is also home to an established and internationally respected Vocational Division, developing emerging artists who become professional dancers. A renowned artistic faculty along with a passionate team of high calibre professionals ensure students are supported and inspired to reach their greatest potential. VAB’s state of the art custom-built studios are situated in Quadra Village, a safe and easy-accessible neighborhood in Victoria.

**Job Summary**

**Accountabilities**

**Operational Planning**
- Provides strategic oversight of the development, alignment and coordination of the annual operational business plan and calendar to ensure that admissions, marketing, and artistic departments annual planning is synthesized and aligned. (including auditions, events, enrollment, and aligned with school calendar).
- Operationalizes strategies into actions for policy and process improvements including overseeing the work of cross department initiatives.
- Provides project management and leadership including coaching, coordinating, and oversight of all administrative project aspects to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.

**Business Development**
- Supports the leadership team to articulate and develop business goals and objectives over a 3-to-5-year time horizon.
- Conducts thorough analysis and research to identify trends, opportunities and risks to enhance dance services and programming.
- Develops the open division program strategy in partnership with the owners, admissions department and artistic team including dates, pricing and incentives and provides project oversight.
- Creates the audition strategy in partnership with the owners, admission department and artistic team and provides project oversight for all marketing, communication, registration, admissions and pricing activities to ensure successful execution.
- Supports stakeholder relations and aligns communication and engagement with the VAB vision for families, staff, community members, agents, and artistic associations.
- Analyzes and assesses stakeholder interests and perspectives to ensure dance programs are delivering value and aligned with the business objectives.
- Works closely with the leadership team to gather feedback on program performance.

**Marketing and Communications**
- Champions VAB through every domestic and international interaction to promote the organization and increase student numbers.
- Creates and implements marketing strategies, branding, plans, and programs that support retention and growth of open and vocational programs.
- Aligns all communication and marketing materials with the organization strategic plan including content strategy, strategic communications, promotional materials, website and user experience, and social media.
- Identifies advertising and promotional channels as well as marketing events to support VAB.
- Oversees branding and design for VAB, working independently, with the team and/or with a designer for a range of products including the prospectus, press releases, alumni success stories, and website.
- Oversees correspondence with stakeholders and grant writing.
- Supports/leads event hosting and provides oversight for the front of house for the theatre.
- Writes, coordinates, and oversees strategic communications.

**Job Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent.
- Dance experience is an asset.
- Experience with international education (study permits and working with agents).
- Experience in arts administration or arts management would be an asset.
- Strong understanding of business strategy and how to align this with marketing principles.
- A minimum of three years of professional experience in project management, planning, operations, and marketing.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- A working understanding of website design (WordPress) is required.
- Experience with content creation and social media platforms.
- Experience with international education is an asset.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check.
- Proof of COVID 19 vaccination.
- Occasional ability to work evenings and weekends.
