Archaeological Field Director

**The Opportunity:
**A day in the life**:
As a Field Director/Professional Archaeologist your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out archaeological survey, test excavation or mitigative excavation in cultural resources setting and in compliance with Heritage Conservation Act permits;
- Leading archaeological field programs
- Preparing and contributing to proposals
- Working with Indigenous community members in a respectful and collaborative manner
- Assisting with managing project scope, schedule, and cost, including invoicing
- Participating in Indigenous community relationship-building
- Undertaking analysis and preparing technical reports
- Supervising junior staff and Indigenous workers where appropriate
- Participating in WSP’s Health & Safety program Demonstrating a “Safety First” focus and acting as a role model to other staff
**What you'll bring to WSP...**
- A graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or an undergraduate degree with equivalent experience;
- Field Director status in the Northwest Coast culture area;
- Experience identifying, recording and evaluating the full range of archaeological site types;
- An ability and willingness to perform field work in a variety of weather conditions and varying durations;
- Proficiency with standard data collection equipment including GPS and hand-held tablets;
- Proven oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
- An ability to contribute to a positive teamwork environment as well as to work independently;
- Solid MS Office skills;
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5); First Aid Certification would be considered an asset.

**Compensation**
Expected Salary (all locations): $72 600 - $123 400
WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to the specific geographic location.
