Baseline Archaeological Services is seeking a **Technical Writer in Courtenay, BC** to join our rapidly growing team of professionals. This is a permanent role which can be either part-time or full-time, and is based in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island. Remote applicants will be considered.

In this key role you will provide support to our Project Management team in writing and reviewing technical archaeological reports. This is an office-based position with a flexible work schedule to help promote a healthy work/life balance.

**Responsibilities**
- Write and review permit and non-permit archaeological reports, including management summaries, interim reports, and final reports
- Conduct background research through navigating online databases and other reference materials
- Review and interpret results from field notes, maps, and other survey data
- Assist with reviewing and updating internal documents and policies where necessary
- Consult and collaborate with local First Nations
- Adhere to all relevant policies and standards including; local First Nations, the BC Archaeology Branch, and the Heritage Conservation Act

**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**

Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology or Anthropology, or related field and previous archaeological field experience is preferred Or a minimum 1-2 years previous experience in archaeological consulting in BC, with at least 6 months direct experience writing and reviewing archaeological reports OR equivalent education and experience.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**

1) Working knowledge of archaeological projects and functions.

2) Strong knowledge and understanding of policies and standards of local First Nations, the BC Archaeology Branch, and the Heritage Conservation Act.

3) Demonstrated understanding of document management with organizational, and analytical skills.

4) Must have strong technical writing skills to write permit and non-permit archaeological reports, management summaries, interim reports, and final reports.

6) Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, teamwork and cooperation skills.

7) Demonstrated time management skills.

8) Ability to work flexible work hours.
