Job Purpose
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Agency and Partner Network Relations will oversee relations between The Food Bank and members of the Community Food Assistance Network (“the Network”), as well as Network capacity development. The incumbent will focus on best practices and work in partnership with Network agencies to foster innovation and insight, providing resources and building capacity across the Network. The Director of Agency and Partner Network Relations will be a key part of The Food Bank’s leadership team, helping to drive the current strategic plan and organizational goals.
The short-term focus of this role will change from year to year, as priorities of The Food Bank change, and will be detailed in the annual work plan.
Responsibilities and Duties
EXAMPLES OF THE ROLE'S RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
1. Providing leadership to the Agency and Partner Network Relations:
- Leading a team of 3 (members of the Agency and Partner Network Relations team) to implement The Food Bank’s strategic plan, organizational goals, and annual workplan priorities.
- Overseeing the Agency and Partner Network Relation team's budgeting and financial analysis throughout the year.
- Conducting development and overseeing the performance and goal setting of the Agency and Partner Network Relations team.
- Overseeing the programs and pilots related to food distribution partners and community resources.
2. Building Network capacity and shaping Network priorities:
- Providing guidance to Network partners and agencies on how to best serve community members experiencing food insecurity.
- Developing Network capacity, optimizing performance, and facilitating deep engagement from Network partners and agencies.
- Deepening The Food Bank’s understanding of Network needs, challenges, opportunities, and realities.
- Leading efforts to ensure The Food Bank is continually providing sufficient outreach to Network agencies and partners.
- Driving alignment of Network priorities to the strategic priorities and goals of The Food Bank.
- Overseeing the relationship lifecycle and engagement with non-partner agencies to enhance collaboration.
3. Creating and maintaining a comprehensive framework for agency partners:
- Overseeing the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive framework for agency partner services.
- Providing direction and leadership to staff to implement and develop the framework through concept analysis, supervision, and evaluation.
- Seeking input and recommendations from staff on ways to continuously improve service to agency partners that will improve their effectiveness and build Network capacity.
4. Deepening understanding of and overseeing research related to food insecurity within the Network to facilitate continual improvement of services:
- Overseeing the design, development, and implementation of the Network’s research agenda related to food insecurity, health, nutrition and related social and economic issues and policies.
- Strengthening knowledge of Network partners around food insecurity, including helping agency partners to identify the most effective interventions to address food insecurity and eliminate its root causes while deepening understanding of the community members they serve.
5. Optimizing data collection and management to increase effectiveness of Network agencies and partners:
- Collaborating on processes to collect data from Network partners through means such as listening sessions and satisfaction surveys.
- Leveraging analytics and performance benchmarking frameworks to translate data into insights about factors that drive key performance areas.
- Leveraging insights to help partners set new goals, identify winning strategies, connect best practitioners, and ultimately improve performance and effectiveness.
6. Driving value to Network agencies and partners:
- Promoting and facilitating collaboration within the Network through various methods, including but not limited to learning and best practice sharing, learning conferences, training, and onboarding.
- Developing a model that supports customized partner services based on their level of need to achieve strategic outcomes.
- Working with members of The Food Bank’s management and leadership team to ensure an adequate supply of nutrient-dense food is available across the Network.
7. Overseeing compliance functions related to Network agencies and partners:
- Ensuring Network compliance with the agency partner contract.
- Mitigating compliance risk through effective consultation and capacity building support for Network partners.
- Escalating probation/suspension and termination recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer.
