Research and Innovation (R&I) is responsible for the promotion and advancement of research across McGill and serves the research community in a variety of ways. Specifically, R&I directs the University’s overall institutional research mandate, manages the support services framework for research initiatives, and oversees outreach to key international institutions.

**Position Summary**:
You will serve as the main administrative support for the University Veterinarian & Associate Vice-Principal Animal Care. The Administrative Assistant is the secondary backup for the Assistant to the Vice-Principal (R+I), thereby playing an integral role in the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Vice-Principal (R+I) [OVPRI]. As a result, you provide a range of support services related to administrative, financial, communications, and events processes within the OVPRI.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Hold primary responsibility for planning, maintaining, and administering the calendar and contacts of the University Veterinarian & Associate Vice-Principal Animal Care, with the goal of always optimizing the use of their time.
- Set priorities and handles competing requests for meetings with the University Veterinarian & AVP Animal Care as require with diplomacy and professionalism.
- Organize complex meetings involving, for example, external guests or a large number of participants, chaired by the VPRI or the AVP.
- Proactively ensure that the University Veterinarian & AVP Animal Care has accurate and comprehensive briefing files for daily meetings and events, including background notes, speaking notes, schedules of events, and biographical materials.
- Arrange and organize all travel and accommodations for University Veterinarian & AVP Animal Care - and the VPRI as required - to national and international destinations in connection with University business.
- Prepare and submit expense reports for the University Veterinarian & AVP Animal Care.
- Maintain a basic understanding of all issues, files, and processes under the purview of the VPRI and the University Veterinarian & AVP Animal Care.

**Education, Experience and Other Qualifying Skills required**
- DEP (Secretarial/Office Systems) and four years of related experience.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to multitask.
- Client-focused and service-oriented.
- English, spoken and written, and French, spoken.
