**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Government & Community Relations Officer. This position will be responsible for supporting the University’s government relations activities at the municipal, provincial and federal levels through executing strategies and action plans for direct advocacy with governments. The Government & Community Relations Officer will also support the Executive Director of Government and Community Relations in community engagement activities and representing in meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- A University degree required.
- Demonstrated 3 to 5 years of background knowledge of government processes or stakeholder relations is required.
- Some experience in government and community engagement, with a comprehensive knowledge of University or post-secondary issues.
- Knowledge and experience within a University setting and awareness of University academic and administrative departments is preferred.
- Proven record of success in government relations, community engagement, communications and/or public affairs.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Superior leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and related automated management information systems required.
- High degree of independence, diplomacy, and ability to work with many different types of individuals required.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail required.
- Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff, including senior administration; senior volunteers, including board members; external stakeholders; government officials; business leaders and community representatives.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
