**THE EMPLOYER**

Memorial University (MUN) is a comprehensive, multi-campus, public university committed to excellence. The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland (MI) is MUN’s oceans and polytechnic campus with locations in St. John’s, Foxtrap, Holyrood, Lewisporte, and Stephenville. The Institute has a budget of approximately $55 million and approximately 400 employees. MI is considered to be the most comprehensive institution of its kind in North America, with highly qualified employees and unique facilities such as a full motion ships bridge, simulators and the world’s largest flume tank. It offers graduate and undergraduate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and industry training for the marine sectors.

**DUTIES**

Duties include working and collaborating with other units within the Marine Institute and Memorial University, particularly the Office of Alumni Engagement and the Office of Development; assisting with, and in some cases leading, various development and engagement initiative; assisting with and leading alumni initiatives, with the Marine Institute’s schools and centres, as well as the Office of Career Integrated Learning; expanding existing and building new partnerships with government, industry, educational institutions and others; identifying, evaluating, cultivating and soliciting prospective donors, including individuals, corporations and foundations in line with University policies and practices; drafting donor correspondence, gift agreements, briefing notes, basic proposals and other written materials as needed; developing and successfully achieving fundraising goals; assisting in the planning and execution of a coordinated program for donor relations and working with the stewardship team to enhance the relationship between donors and the Marine Institute of Memorial University; recommending new development and engagement initiatives, including alumni initiatives; carrying out special projects; assisting with the development and maintenance of the Marine Institute’s alumni social media activities;, working with and updating the alumni and donor data base to ensure information and records are accurate and reflect ongoing activity and performing other duties as required. The position will require some national and international travel and work outside regular working hours.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**SALARY** $54,055 - $81,079 per annum (Management and Professional Pay Scale)
