**BACKGROUND**

Memorial University is a leader in publicly engaged research and is keenly aware of the opportunities and challenges in the ever-changing North. The University of the Arctic (UArctic) is a network association of universities, colleges, research institutes, and other organizations involved in education and research in and about the North. Led by the Harris Centre, the Global Arctic Leadership Initiative (GALI) is a partnership between Memorial, UArctic, and Yukon University, focusing on building capacity in northern institutions throughout the circumpolar north and to increase circumpolar engagement and cooperation throughout its network.

**DUTIES**

Reporting directly to the Harris Centre’s Strategic Northern Liaison, the successful applicant will be an integral part of the GALI project team supporting the development of UArctic membership activities in Canada and the promotion of Indigenous and Northern-related activities and engagement across Canadian member institutions. Responsibilities include supporting project logistics; sharing information and performing engagement activities such as the planning and implementation of convening and recruitment events; implementing tools and processes to track activities such as calendar events, open project calls, publication possibilities, and study and exchange opportunities; promoting existing information tools such as website profiles, and study and infrastructure catalogues; participating in Arctic Council working groups; and performing other related duties as required. The Engagement Coordinator will also work with UArctic chairs, committees, and leadership to help identify and support opportunities for Indigenous perspectives in research and education across UArctic member activities and support other membership and project-related duties as required.

This position requires occasional travel nationally and internationally and occasional evening and weekend work. Remote work arrangements for this position will be considered.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**SALARY **$47,222 - $66,220 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
